Publicity Stunt

I think its a good idea as long as we can get good publicity on it, some air time or pictures in a paper so the council can see and take notices. Having members of the council there (aptly Stokes wont be there due to some disablility he has - mainly a dislike for our club) will also show them what the people feel.

Otherwise just like everything else it the council will ignor it. Hopefully lots of people will be sympathetic to us.

Email me if you need help lobbing red cards out, me and the girlfriend will be more than pleased to help...

Thanks, Marcus. I hope there'll be many people helping to distribute the Red Cards out beforehand. We've got about 4000 being printed so more than enough to go round. Get there early and Kay will let you have as many as you can hand out.

I know that it says 1.50 on the leaflets but I'm going to get the red card thing going at 1.45 as I'm sure it will take a few minutes to get everybody up to speed. I've got 5 A2 sized Red Cards for which I'll need extra hands to hold up. Bring your voices too.

Altogether now

All we want is a football ground in Slough

Hi Shad,

cheers for the support - its nothing illegal, just holding up red postcards at 10 to 2 (watch out for the signal for behind the far end goal)

The more people that do this, the more visual it will be, and hopefully get a second or so on match of the day. For background on why we are protesting against the council, read the programme on the day.

I'll be dishing out cards before the game, around the Stag and Hounds so please grab bundles and pass them on.

This from todays Non League paper

SLOUGH USE CASH TO FIGHT FOR GROUND

"Homeless Slough Town will use their cup money as a spur to battle ever more fiercely for a ground of their own to spend it on.

Fans will protest at the lack of support given by their council to find a new home by holding up red cards before kick off against Walsall.

General manager, Roy merryweather says the high profile generated by the cup run is even more precious than the revenue.

"Windsor and Eton have been absolutely marvellous to us,but this brings the opportunity to raise our profile andmake people aware of the predicament we are in."

In another article Eddie Denton says

"The advantages of playing a club like Walsall are not purely financial. We need as much publicity as possible to show that this club could have a very bright future in Slough if it was given a chance.

Our fans have been working tremendously hard, but I'm hopeful that a high profile match will give the council an extra reminder of our potential."

Wave those cards in the air!

Someone should tell the bbc at the game as they would be more likely to film it then

Thanks, Woody, you've just reminded me! I'll be busy in my official capacity as team bus driver ferrying our heroes from their pre-match get-together to Fortress Stag so won't be in the ground until 1.45. There's various camera points around the ground - can someone make sure that each camera man is given one of the red cards so they're aware of what's going on? That way, there'll be more chance of us getting it on TV.
