PROMOTION TO STEP 4 FOR SEASON 2005/06

The following procedures, which will apply for this Season 2004/05, will be confirmed by the Football Association in the near future. Clubs should wait until that information is available.

Clubs wishing to apply for promotion from the Essex Senior Football League (Step 5) to Step 4 must make application to the Football Association by 31st December 2004 in accordance with current National League Regulations. All applications must be accompanied by a grading fee of £150.

Clubs wishing to be considered for promotion must meet a minimum acceptable Standard with regard to facilities. Therefore, in order to be considered for promotion, clubs must achieve the proposed new Grading Category E by 30th April 2005 (copies of the draft grading for Category E are available from the League Secretary or Chairman on request).

Between 1st January and 1st March all clubs will be graded and advised of any work that needs to be carried out.

At the conclusion of season 2004/05 a club, in order to be considered for promotion, must finish in 1st place in their Step 5 League. If a club finishing in 1st place is not eligible to be considered for promotion, a club finishing in 2nd place may be eligible provided that it meets the entry criteria. Clubs finishing below 2nd place will not be eligible to be considered for promotion.

If necessary, the Football Association's Leagues Committee will arrange a series of play-off matches between the clubs eligible for promotion. A draw will be carried out in January 2005 to determine the format. As the names of clubs will not be known at this stage, the draw will be League based. At the conclusion of the playing season should a League not be in a position to nominate an eligible club then the League shown as its opponents in the play-off draw will receive a walkover.

Each play-off will consist of one game, which will be played to completion with extra time and penalty kicks from the penalty mark being used to determine the winner should the score be equal after 90 minutes. (As a result of this we have been asked to complete fixtures by the last Saturday in April ).

The Step 5 Leagues have asked the Football Association to consider (a) playing the games on a neutral ground and/or (B) assisting with the travelling costs. Further details will be available from the FA soon.

The 8 winning teams from the play-off games will be placed into the Promotion/Relegation Pool and allocated to the most geographically convenient division at Step 4.

The clubs occupying the bottom two places in the four Step 4 Leagues will be relegated and placed into a Promotion/Relegation Pool and allocated to the most geographically appropriate League at Step 5.

Well!

That throws the cat among the pigeons don't it?

Or should I say aspirant among the ravenous pack?

See you all in the arena folks!

Very Interesting. Do the clubs currently challenging at the top want to progress and if so, do they have the required standards/facilities?

I know Bowers & Pitsea have a roadmap and desire to climb the pyramid.

£150 for grading which you dont need as you have a year to bring your ground up to the required standard.

No Brunob

The club has to meet the grading by April 30th next year.

So you need to be up to the grade a year before the need to be up to the grade?

The thing is I support the need to be up to a set standard before promotion, but the re-organisation was sold on clubs having the time after promotion.

I thought the statement was straightforward - to be promoted to a Step 4 league you will require a " D " grading but by the end of this season you must certainly have a Step 5 " E" grade to be even considered .. I feel that this is only fair as everyone in this league should be aiming for an "E" grade and, by 2007 if you haven't got it , you will be relegated a step or two. Once you have an "E" grade, then Promotion is the next step and I am led to understand that, at that stage you will be given time to fully conform with a "D" grade . I hope that I am right and it makes sense ?

I believe the Abbott's are quietly going about their business down at sunny Capershotts as everyone else around them gets excited. From good sources I would say that they have no problem with a lease.

We've all heard the rumours from the Abbey about you'll be ready and you've quietly fixed it so the Town won't be because Brimo wont give us the required 10 year lease. Brimo can really afford to do you a favour at the expense of their own bar bill can they? Bigger crowds more matches in the Southern League means more bar income and survival for Brimo. Bury the town and Brimo would have to dig two graves one for us and one for them so think again!

Abbey what realistic chance have you got of having a ground E grading by the 30th April? None whatsoever! Capershott is and will always be a dump! Take a big look round lads ready by the end of April? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laughuncontrollable.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laughuncontrollable.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laughuncontrollable.gif" alt="" />

Bloody Hell, where did that come from?

They didn`t even mention us or brimmo, just that they would be ready.
