The Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Stuart Cash, as the new manager of St Albans City Football Club. He will take up his new role with immediate effect. Stuart has been with Aldershot for the last seven years and was the assistant manager under Terry Brown. During his playing career Stuart was a professional with Rotherham United, Chesterfield and Brentford. The Aldershot website describes Stuart as thoroughly professional, an excellent coach and ambassador for the club and a great influence in the dressing room.

Stuart is already organising his backroom staff and is well known to many of the players such as Dean Hooper, Miguel De Souza, Adam Parker, Scott Cousins and Ben Walshe who have all worked with Stuart in the past.

Our main aim is now to take the Club forward and initially move up the league from our present position. The Chairman John Gibson made the following comment: "The minute Stuart walked through the door I knew he was the right person for the job. I have spoken to many people about him and no one has a bad word to say about Stuart and not even a hint of criticism. He has the knowledge, the ability and the enthusiasm to make the Club great and I really believe that he will succeed in taking the Club forward. I know he has it in him because the first thing he asked was could he have more money for players ! I hope that the Club and the supporters will get behind Stuart and show their support by turning out on Saturday for our home game against Weymouth."

John Gibson went on to thank all those who applied for the job. "It is regrettable that we could not speak to all of the applicants, some of whom were very well known names in football circles. Alasdair McMillin our Vice chairman, together with other Board members had agreed certain criteria that we all felt should be met and Stuart Cash met with our requirements. Nevertheless I would like to pass on by best wishes to all those candidates who took the time to write in and apply."

Just spoke to George Borg, who had Stu as his no.2 at Aldershot. George said he'll work hard for you and will give you 100%. Got lots of contacts in the game and likes to look after the players. George passes on his best wishes.

Credit to your Chairman, sounds like a good appointment. Good luck one & all!

"The minute he walked through the door, [Gibbo] knew that he was the one."

Phew!!. He can't mean that that literally, surely. Stuart must have said something that cemented the relationship from the start. I wonder:

"Does anyone around here know the Newcastle United score?"

"Last time I was here in December 2002, you stuffed us."

"What eejit preferred Oakes to Challinor?"

Great stuff. Highly thought of by that lot at Aldershot. I reckon we've got a good 'un there.

Good luck to him from me. And 4-4-2.
