Odds from Ladbrokes for next season..

Certainly not giving much away. I am happy to see that they think we will achieve a mid table position.. But 22/1 is a bit skinny.

NON-LEAGUE ODDS - NATIONWIDE CONFERENCE - 01/07/2002

Nationwide Conference........

Obviously, last season's runners-up Dagenham & Redbridge are the firm favourites to make it this time around, which is hardly a surprise.

The bookies favour Forest Green Rovers, Woking and Leigh RMI to go down, with two old Conference stalwarts, Kettering Town and Northwich Victoria (one of only two remaining founder members) to struggle with them.

Odds:

10/3 Dagenham & Redbridge

7/2 Doncaster Rovers

4/1 Yeovil Town

9/1 Barnet

10/1 Farnborough Town

12/1 Hereford United

16/1 Burton Albion, Margate, Morecambe

18/1 Stevenage Borough, Telford United

20/1 Halifax Town, Scarborough

22/1 Gravesend & Northfleet

25/1 Chester City, Southport

28/1 Nuneaton Borough

50/1 Kettering Town, Northwich Victoria

66/1 Forest Green Rovers, Leigh RMI, Woking

Also Canvey are 6/4 to win the Rymans next year.

The bookies are not being over generous on our odds are they !!!!!!

I think that the Fleet travelling faithful, will be watching the future champions on the 17th August.Unfortunately it isn't going to be our boys. I will go with the Glovers to win the Conference. And at the odds of 25/1 I reckon that Chester are also worth an each way nibble.

Canvey at 6/4 for the Rymans, no value at all - my tip for the Rymans is an each way punt on both Kingstonian & Grays, I can see both of these putting in a big season at a fairly decent price.

What does everybody else think ?

As far as I remember St. Albans were very strong in the current form during mid to late season and I think they managed to keep most of their players while they were having financial problems last season, if they're still together I'd back them to go close.

As we showed last term though, in a close race form and finance mean nothing, it's down to fitness, willpower and whose nerve holds the best.

I would think it is worth waiting a while, when other bookmakers enter the fray ( I should think most major bookmakers will do Conference odds, and there may well be some diversity of thought on some of the teams).

I guess most of the bookies are probably holding off until they know more about squad make ups nearer the start of the season, as well as the outcome of the Boston issue.
