About a month ago, we were made aware of the Slough website referring to Neville Roach being "Gravesend bound."

No more has been heard of this. Or have I just been an idiot & missed a posting everyone else saw?

Was he asking silly money? Has he gone somewhere else? Was it all no more than a rumour in the first place?

Anyone know anything?

Having spoken with Roy Merryweather (STFC Secretary) earlier today, he mentioned nothing about players having left, so I presume he's still on our books.

I'll check again on Wednesday and if there is any change I'll let you all know.

Best of luck for your forthcoming season in the Conference!

I doubt we'd hear anything until everything was cut & dried - negotiations may be ongoing and at a delicate stage, or it could have all fallen through/ been an unsubstantiated rumour.

I doubt that the STFC official will reveal anything either especially if matters are still ongoing.

Lets just wait and see what occurs - Andy was obviously hoping to sign someone else just before he went on hols, so who knows, something may be revealed in the next few days.

I noticed that Steve Jones who was at Charlton 3 years ago is now playing for Hornchurch in Ryman 3. Surely he's better than that - he's quite big, but quick with it, and could give us that necessary bit of strength up front. His age at 32 would possibly count against him though.

Only an idea!!

Phil Smith has signed for Margate, having probably been guaranteed first team football with Charlie Mitten leaving. He turned down both Gravesend and Farnborough.

Fleet Fella, im not sure if you have got the same steve jones, I think the steve jones at hornchurch may be the one who played for maidstone last season, I may be mistaken

Definately not!!! Turner was a great find, we paid nothing for him, and I wonder what he would be worth now, and Blake also is a quality keeper, I would imagine smith would be asking for more in wages than both are current keepers to!!

DJ baldy - it is definitely the same Steve Jones. When he left Charlton he was at Bournemouth, then ended up at Hornchurch. I didn't know that he had turned Canvey down though - perhaps all the more reason to go after him!!!

(He must have disliked Jeff King that much that he would rather play in Ryman 3 than for Canvey!)
