From Walton site - They thought we were rubbish and one reply was -

Totally agree on all counts. The officiating at this level is a complete joke. Half the time the linesmen look to the ref before making the decision, the other half they do nothing at all. The referee in todays game just didn't seem to have a clue as per normal.

That said, it was a brilliant performance from the Swans, everyone did their job and every player seemed right up for it against a Margate side who seemed to be happy committing foul after foul.

A nice touch that an own goal won the game as well.

Oates/Green/Barnett all missing. Bill looked rusty. Comedy defending at times. Keister was on a mission to get sent off, and did. One of their men should have gone too, for a right hook on Clarke- instead of that both players got booked. Margate only had two fit players on the bench, Watson and Hussein. Walton were well up for it. Their opener due to failure to clear. Our first by Che well set up by Rocky and Peter Benevides. Their second a 20 yard blinder. Watson on for Alexi towards the end, scared them to death and set up equaliser with his first touch. Che played a bit deeper, but the change left us short at the back, and their winner was no surprise, although the last five minutes was all Margate. Good to see Mark Green out of plaster and warming up with the team before the match.

Very disappointing performance.

Walton all over the gate in first half.

More even 2nd.

Lost to own goal in about 89th minute.

Watson made the 2nd equaliser with great pass first time he touched the ball.

No -one played well.

Gradley marginally best player as he did breal up a few attacks.

Desperately missing a fit Oates and Green.

Centre defence back to normal poor quality.

Smith ok, but Annon had an average game and Bill Edwards despite all his excellent previous loyal service and form is now weak link in defence.

He and Annon have similar games.

Missed Barnett today.

Having sais that about defence, i expect others will blame the forwards. In fairness there was not much energy and running from Rocky and even Che today,BUT they got no service at all from midfield.

Clarke is not the player this season he was last.

Lack of a Midfield was the major factor today

This could still be a decent side if we could get that quality midfield player.

Its not all doom and gloom-disappointing to go out of both cups and can only hope we get a league run going to create interest.

Makes a change for Margate, then, doesn't it? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/whistling.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/whistling.gif" alt="" />

Agree with all above. They had a player sythe down peter trago. Both his legs were taken away from him but ref only gave yellow. Unbelievable that decision. Watson coming on got Rocky to start doing something. Rocky was really really bad today. Had one looping header that their keeper tipped over but apart from that he was dire. The whole team played crap. Again we make an ordinary side look better than the actually are.

Keister played well but again his verbal assault on the ref let him down. Yellow card in 1st half but straight red in the second half.

Poor performance and NO excuses.

Their best attendance this year at home has been 204 but today it was exceeded. Maybe 250 there large m.f.c. following.

Bad day.

[color:"blue"] Bill Edwards didn't expect to play today, but Aarron Barnett had a suspected concussion and was left out. But frankly this was almost a mirror of the Braintree game - they were 'up for it' we weren't. We were playing long ball stuff, and although the pitch was quite squashy, should have played to feet. There was a young referee (or perhaps I'm getting old) who was struggling to show some authority - unfortunately Keister saw this as an opportunity to be a bit verbal. He was lucky not to get booked in the first half, then got a yellow for a clash in the second ... followed by a 2nd yellow after they'd gone 2-1 up. Che took the midfield role, with Watson on for Alexis. Having said that, Che got on to Watson's first touch offf the ball and scored our second. But we didn't close up shop and they got a late third. The better side won.

negatives: Barnett not starting. Their ground has a running track around it. Down to 10 fit outfield players & 2 keepers.

positives: Green did three laps of pitch, walking and sometimes breaking into a trot. Che scoring two. We've signed a defender from Gravesend - Romauld Boujadi (signed too late to play) CK joked he'd only signed him to annoy the tannoy announcers.

As above Cookie,Che and Rocky were both distinctly average today, BUT they had no service whatsoever.

They did'nt really have any balls to run onto, and the few there were , went nearer Waltons defenders than Rocky or Che.

It must have been pretty disheartening for them both

Says something when the only decent pass of the game is made by Watson with his first touch

Midfield let us down today in more ways than one (JK)

We are always lacking in the air both in defence and attack. Whenever a high ball goes into our box from whatever position on the pitch we always seem to come out 2nd best. There is just no-one going for it. As for the attacking part the two guys up front CHE and ROCKY simply dont even try(maybe being a little unfair here towards CHE) but as FOR rocky all he seems to do is forget the ball and concentrates on the man by holding him off.The defender shrugs him off and gets on with the business at hand. Getting to the ball first. High balls both in attack and up front are our downfall at present and we need some practice in how to deal with these. In the first half it was the smallest of players in our defence John Keister who actually DID get some headers away.

It needs concentration of the ball and not the man that is letting us down up front and in defence it needs someone who can get to the ball first, take charge.

All over the pitch today the opposition were getting to the ball first and this also needs addressing urgently.

Also agree.

Good point about it being JK in first half who was making most defensive headers.

No-one seemed inspired yesterday.

It was as though there was an attitude that without Barnett, Green and Oates we will not be any good.

Probably true, but at least pretend its not and give it a go !!

We need Green back to give a bit of inspiration and energy to the team
