Glory Hunters

Most recent posters from both Hornhurch and other clubs have assumed that new supporters ("glory hunters") will quickly melt away now that the glory days are over.

My first Hornchurch match was Darlington last year, and almost exactly one year on me, my brother-in-law, and our two lads have missed maybe one or two home home matches.

My point is that its it not the "glory" that keeps us coming back (we've not actually won anything in that time), rather its the attitude of the the club, management and fellow supporters.

For example, with a brand new team at the start of the season we were welcomed to a "meet the players" evening. All the players were happy to chat, and Ashley Bayes in particular was great, introducing the lads to all the other new players and making sure they each got a complete set of autographs on their replica shirts.

Its this kind of relationship between club and supporters that brings in new fans, not the hunt for glory. As long the club is run with a welcoming, family-friendly approach we will continue as supporters.

We all wish the leaving players and othe staff well in the future, but please don't assume we will only watch if the team is winning.

well said lads, these people who call us glory hunters really haven't a clue,i know people who didn't even like football but came to their first ever footy match at the bridge, does this mean they are glory hunters,no,it means they have fallen in love with the beautiful game and they follow the urchins

as "potential"glory hunter with 2 games under my belt- i`m choked with what`s happened but i`d feel

a lot worse if me and my daughter(probably the latest Junior Urchin)couldnt go and enjoy the

amazing family atmosphere while supporting the team - so pleased that all on here are keeping it going! We`ll be there tuesday and on the coach

saturday - The high profile lured us in but

the club and fellow fans got us hooked........

Well done all of you, I couldn't agree more with these comments.

It's now time for us fans to stick together as we only have one aim and that's to keep this club alive!

Seeing the support yesterday was amazing. The feeling after scoring was better than the week before and dare I say it, the Tranmere experience.

Afterall, it doesn't matter who's inside our red and white shirts, but just that they play with big hearts.

And there were none bigger that those yesterday.

Come on the urchins!
