PIGGING OUT

A Serbian football club is so cash-strapped they cannot afford to even feed their players, never mind pay them. However, help is at hand in the shape of former Yugoslavian footballer Dejan Govedarica. He bought the club a 220 pound pig to save the players from starvation after learning of the club's plight. He also said he would allow players from Serbian premiership club Vojvodina to eat at his bakery on credit. "I own a bakery in Novi Sad, so the players can go and eat there on credit." A local paper reported that things have become so bad that the players travel to training with as many as six people in one car to save on petrol. They've also started selling their personal items like mobile phones while they wait for their wages - which haven't been paid for months.
