Going back to the original post i see Grays hope to sign Wayne Purser (their 5th from Hornchurch) by wednesday. I`m suprised we have not been in for him, maybe it`s the fact that Grays will offer him fulltime football.

Are Grays actually "full time?"

 

Last year everybody was saying they were full time - but they were saying it was mainly youth players and some others, but not the majority of the first team.

The last i heard they were, maybe it`s only certain players. I`ve read Purser had been approached by a few clubs but had turned them all down because he wanted fulltime football.

i do wonder if Purser could work with Boylan they are very much the same player,and it would be great to have them both,but we must realise that not getting relagated is our priority and even if we did make it through the play offs that FA would never pass our ground for league Football,Barnet are having problems and they has a far superior ground,we may aswell keep the money..

Of course staying up in our first season is priority but if you don`t push as hard as you can (without overspending) what`s the point of being there.

 

As for the ground i thought (i may be wrong) part of the conference grading was to ensure you could go straight into the football league. I`m sure i read somewhere that if Barnet win promotion they can go up, then they have a time limit to bring the ground upto the next level much like Fulham had in the Premiership.

Wonder if it's worth popping onto the Grays forum and winding them about about "big spenders", "buying who they want", "surviving on a crowd of 350" and then about how they will "crash and burn" like Hornchurch when their bubble bursts. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

well i hope that is the case,i would assume half the players contracts are on a part time basis anyway,so that would be another issue to address..But yeah im with you,im not saying i don't want the club to improve or push on but it seems the first year for most clubs is about stablity in the conference..Big game Sat - i really believe this yr we will get a Premiership club in the 3rd round..What a occasion that would be ....i hope im right!!!
