Tonight At The Club ...

Urchin Boy

Recommended Posts

I Along With Many Other's Were At The Club Tonight, As Bridge Has Mentioned In A Previous Post, I Just Think This Deserves It's Own Thread.

Hornchurch Will Go On As A Club, Uncle Urchin Has Done Alot For The Club And This Will Not Be Forgotten But We Need To Move On And Fast.

A Good Way To Show That We Have Moved On Is By Getting Behind The Boys This Saturday Away @ Arlesey Town In The FA Trophy.

Saturday Will Be A New Start, With A Makeshift Team I Suspect, With Whoever We Can Get To Play.

Our Support For The Club We All Have Grown To Love Has To Continue And After What I Have Witnessed Tonight We Can Only Get Stronger.

This Is A Very Sad Day To All Those Involved With The Club, As Staff, Players And Fans. We Now Have The Chance To Show That With Or Without Money We Can Do It.

We Will Now See Who The True Supporters Are And The Glory Hunters Will Disappear.

Can't quite believe this is happening. As I said in a previous post keep the faith and believe. Hornchurch will survive if the fans want it badly enough.

Victor Gladwish, where are you?

I certainly dont intend to follow the line of thinking of other Fleet fans.

Whilst I agree that it was always likely to blow up in your faces, given gates of six or seven hundred, and full time wages to be paid, most reasonable football supporters will still feel sorry for the genuine Hornchurch fans - lets face it, if I support a club, I wouldnt walk away from it because a Big backer had come in which I felt was unsustainable - I would still turn up each and every week & hope that the money didnt run out before the levels of support made the situation more tenable.

Whilst there will have been the few gloryhunters amongst the Hornchurch fans and a few gloaters, the majority will, no doubt, have been the same as you or I - genuine supporters of the club, with real concern for the future and how the extravagant spending could continue based on the income levels being generated.

Presumably you will have to continue to pay players on contracts - at least theoretically - unless they move on elsewhere? If thats the case, even if you are not actually "bust" at the moment, you very soon will be.

On that basis, the only thing stopping the same players appearing for you would surely be the fact that the players arent being paid and would not, therefore, want to turnout for you.

If they cant/wont play, then you would be lumbered with extra costs to cover wages for replacement players,l unless you find local park players willing to play for nothing except potential glory 9the FA Cup game will be an obvious attraction for them I would think)

Please excuse me if my understanding of the situation is incorrect - its difficult at the moment to see the actual position you're in.

Either way, let me repeat my good wishes to all genuine Hornchurch fans - I really wouldnt wish this position on anyone. (I think several of my fellow Fleet supporters are somewhat out of order in their reaction - one wonders how much its a case of being bitter that you beat us on Saturday)

With Gary Calder, you have a good man at the helm at this time of crisis. When he was manager of Billericay, he twice put two deals together to save the club from financial ruin only to have them rejected by our ex chairman. By supporting the club, you support him.

Good luck for the future.

You are right about Gary Calder, from my few brief conversations with him, he seems a decent guy with a good footballing brain. The thing is though, the guy isn't going to work for nothing is he?

feal sorry for the 150 or so real Hornchurch boys who were there before the money turned up but its exactly what the army of Chavs who thought it was gerat to abuse away fans coming to the ground its exactly what they deserve, just goes to show Non league football should not be full time especially at ths sort of level, it mightseem good while your bigger and better then everyone else but sooner or later the cash dries up and then your in the sh!t. A lesson Chelsea will someday learn!

I beleive that last night was very productive. I went in to the club not knowing what to expect but left with a real belief that we can salvage the football club in some capacity.

I was certainly in mixed emotions last night. I'm obviously very disapointed about what has happened but at the same time I was very touched by the amount of people who showed up last night to show their support.

At the end of the day, football's football and Hornchurch is Hornchurch and as long as there is a team we will support it.

Big well done to everybody involved last night. Its exactly the sort of solidarity we need right now.

Up the Urchins!

we should get some sort of supporters club sorted out now, although we know the club has always listened to us,we should get something sorted between the fans in an official capacity, just so we have a voice or so fans can go to with problems or input and we can then put it to the club, everyone who was there last night wants to help and no doubt there are others

Only the most bitter of opposition fans would revel in this kind of collapse. We at Bowers & Pitsea FC wish the Urchins the best of luck at this most difficult of times.

I am sorry to hear of Hornchurch's problems. It's a lesson that many clubs have learned over the years. Money folk and sponsors come and go. Those who love the club stay and I have no doubt that the hardcore of true supporters, who were there before the money came in, will still be there after the dust has settledand others (the badge kissers and glory hunters) have moved on.

As a Canvey supporter, i have never been a big fan of Hornchurch but i really do feel for you true supporters right now and i hope that it all gets sorted out quickly.

One bright note for ya is that those chav hangers on with the big gobs that came over to ours last season probably wont want to come support you lot any more. They've all gone back to support Dagenham probably!

Good riddance, i say. I know some true Hornchurch supporters and you have always been the top boys!

Good luck lads!
