Statement from Hornchurch Football Club

Press Officer

Recommended Posts

Thursday 4th November 2004

Late last evening, the chairman Gary Calder and manager Garry Hill were informed that there would no longer be the funds available to sustain Hornchurch FC.

Players and staff were issued wage cheques on Tuesday, but these were all stopped.

Gary Calder said, "The party is over and the rollercoaster ride has come to an end. The club will continue playing football and will compete in the FA Trophy and the FA Cup. We are absolutely devastated".

Manager Garry Hill said "I feel the same as each and every person connected with this football club. I am empty inside. The league table doesn't lie, we all thought that we could take the club to the next level. After all it's November and we've only lost one league game. Everyone connected with club, the staff and players have worked hard and we need the supporters to rally round."

Coach Kevin Hales said "It's not just the players and staff, it's their families as well. It's been a really traumatic day and we need 24 hours to clear our heads. Who knows what might happen, but there might be someone who will come forward and ask to take control of the club. We will be taking advice from everybody and we will see which way the ship steers next"

At the present time, Gary Hill remains the manager of Hornchurch FC

Ends.

Remain positive.

Just think, you now have a big fan base and loads of publicity, I am sure you can pull together whatever is needed to survive in Conf South this season, then rebuild next.

I would also assume you may have saved something for a rainy day.

Good Luck from the Boro!

a lot of you are wind up mmerchants who revel in the misfotunes of others, you are always on other peoples forum boards etc taking the piss. So you have to expect it back......i wonder what i will be called now, something delightful and something which shows your true "essex educated" vocabulary such as prick, twat, [****!!****]...... come on, whats it gonna be?

For those of you who think you should not be included in this, i do not wish to offend. Those that it applies to know who they are.

yeah some of us take the piss out of other fans about beating them and general stuff, but we would draw the line when it comes to maybe losing the club, but i suppose down in kent you are a bit backwards as far as that is concerned,i don't give a monkeys if someone comes on here taking the piss coz they have beat us,goes with the territory, but all you so called footy fans who revel in a club going to the brink, are not really footy fans, did you see us taking the piss out of telford, get over it mate,we're in the fa cup,you are not,and do you think that we don't get people on here joking with us,there is a line and some of you just love going over it.And last time i was in your part of kent it was hardly full of kentish ladies & gentlemen.
