Away from the FA Cup...

Bearing in mind what's (apparently) happened to the Carthium Group and consequently Hornchurch FC, does anyone know if this will have a knock-on effect with regards Coldseal's sponsorship of Slough Town?

 

Sad to see Hornchurch's (apparent) impending demise but it was always likely one day IMO.

 

On a side note, I wonder what the future holds for Jake Whincup? His loan with us might expire and he may go back to Essex only to be told he's being released.

If anyone doesnt know what hes going on about, according to Watchdog they have gone into liquidation.

Reading that it could seem that we COULD, I mean COULD not for certain, be able to keep Whincup as a free.

It's cruel to speculate the destinations of their players though. If they have released all their players, as it seems they have, then you've got to feel sympathy for them and for the hardcore Hornchurch fans in their hour of need. Not everyone likes Hornchurch as a club, but imagine how you would feel if this was us - imagine how you felt in 1998.

Certainly wouldn't affect the sponsorship as this was paid at the start of the season upfront in advance.

We had a Fans Forum question on big spending clubs recently and my view was that it was only good if the club had the fan base to support the spending of the person or company investing in the event that they walked away.

 

Regrettably, Hornchurch look to be on the receiving end of exactly the type of scenario I was referring to. I wish them and their supporters the best of luck in sorting it out.

The apparent demise of Hornchurch is exactly why the Trust is so very important for our club. Relying on one businessman to deliver the goods is asking for trouble.

We should really big up the trust at the Walsall game and try and get as many new members as possible.
