What's Happening At Hornchurch?

Recommended Posts

What a said day for football, another club going to the wall, could it been forseen.

Yes, a club of the size of hornchurch, with an average turnover of only £150k per annum spending £1.2m in wages per annum.

This however does add a great new dynamic into the world of who will be the new manager at city, will Gary Hill, put his hat in the ring.

Football clubs and supporters need to realise, the basic economics of football especially at non league levels, no more than 70% of turnover should go to players wages to allow clubs to function on an economic footing.

The situation at Hornchurch is probably worse that has been shown so far in the press releases, as they will have considerable high football related debts, in simple terms if a football club is in debt it can agree a resolution with its creditors which could be say 5p in the pound. so for a debt of £100k, it would cost only £5k to settle the debts. Football debts are different, they must be settle in full assuming that the players are paid weekly the football debt is at least £23k and rising, the club can release all of its no contract players, but contract players will still need to be paid, lets assume £10k a week.

With a good home crowd they could generate around £3k every 2 weeks, so by xmas they club will be potentially in debt to the tune of £100k which would have to be paid in full.

What will happen next, they could be suspended from the league until they can prove they are financially stable, they could go under, restarting in the the lower levels of the ryman (1 less relegation spot), a new window company could be created and save hornchurch.

The lesson is simple, budget for what you can afford, direct income - the back bone of the team, if you recieve indirect income have a source of expenditure that can be turned off immediately to prevent debts building up

True J.K but two wrongs don't make a right. Whatever you think about some people who support the club and some of the officials for this to happen to any non league club is sad.

I admit when the same thing happened to Telford I couldn't give a stuff but I know a lot of decent people who support the Urchins and at the moment they are going through hell just the same feelings as you guys were going through 2 or 3 years ago. You survived and I'm sure somehow Hornchurch will.

Whatever happens I'm sure the arrogancy will dissapear.

Arrogance.

It was a drag two or three years ago, but 1) I never felt the club wouldn't survive - someone ALWAYS comes in at the 11th hour, and 2) there's more to life than my local non-league football team.

I feel sorry for the genuine fans like LMU, but even as recently as a week ago, their smug, arrogant glory-hunters were larging it on the Conference South forum about how they'll never go bust and how they'll be a league team.

Of course, these were people who had probably never heard of Hornchurch as recently as 3 years ago.

This was left by a Bedford fan on the Urchins board... I have to agree with his sentiments...

A lot of posts on here made me smile, they were the outraged whingeing of people who cant belive theat they might have to try and win things the old fasioned way instead of buying their way up, then having ago at the chairman who has lost more then his football club, hes lost his livelyhood as well. You people are not real fans your not the kind of people any club wants, if your only there to watch your team win then go and wacth Arsenal or something. The people I feal sorry for are those who supported the team before the money turned up not those who were to stupid to realise it could never last!

Arrogancy? Where did I get that word from!!!! If Kingy left I don't think the repercussions would be so great. Yes we would have to cut the wage bill but we're not living beyond our means. We're still part time and we charge ridulous prices to get in!!!

But your crowds are 700 tops, even at a tenner a throw that's only 7K every 2 weeks, if King went you'd be f*cked, how much cash do you think Boylan is on?

However YELLOW I liked your two wrongs don't make a right sentimant, make friends make friends never never break friends if you do you'll catch the flu and that'll be the end of you

Thank you kind sir. I tend to like using cliches at the moment!!

We would have problems if Kingy left but doubt Boylan would leave. Not sure what he is on but have heard a rumour that pro clubs are relunctant to take him on because he suffered from a serious bowel illness a few years ago and still requires medication to treat it.

Let's face it we would have to cut down but we would be nowhere in the [censored] like Hornchurch. I doubt very much our wage bill is even higher than half the Conference teams.
