I can't believe what I have just read on teletext ( assuming it's true !)

Italian club have sacked Korean player as he scored the winning goal against them ???

The chairman of the Italian club said something like...I am not going to pay a man who has put Italian football in ruins ...he will never set foot in Perugia (?) again.

Good grief...a bit OTT me thinks...boycott Pizza's in protest!!....just as well we didn't lose to France...Arsenal & Chelsea may have gone out of business !!

I think the attitude of the Italian club is bang out of order ! What say you fellow footie fans ??

Cheers,

PS are we definitely playing Yeovil at Dorchester ?

Apparently, the big beef with the Perugia president is that the Korean lad 'tried too hard'. Against the country where he works.

Those cunning Koreans! What will they think of next? I mean running around fast to gain an advantage is just outrageous, when you could just go down clutching your face every time a defender comes near you. Like an Italian.

I am amazed by this action by Perugia. The president has complained that the club had opened their country to him when he coudln't even afford a sandwich, and made him a rich man.

He also said that Ahn's performances for the team were very indifferent, yet he played his best ever game against the country that pays his wages. How dare he play well and score the golden goal against the mighty Azzurri!!!!

Personally, I though it was one of the most entertaining games so far, especially seeing the Italians whining and moaning about the referee. Agreed, the Italian 'goal' was not offside, but other than that the ref was spot on. Totti is, and always has been, a cheat so I have no reason to believe he didn't go down on purpose.

Anyone else find themselves in hysterics now whenever that Fiat ad with Totti comes on - "The goal was offside - Emile Heskey"!!!!!!!!!

COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see they're also blaming the referee, this is wrong on two counts. The 1st, there was nothing wrong with his game, and the 2nd, a lot of people were tipping him to get the final, with Italy out it is almost certain that Mr. Collini will now get the big one. So if there was any cheating by the ref it would have been in his interest to help Italy through.

Nah seriously though..... I think Italy have been spectacularly bad losers....

Presumably if there was a conspiracy to knock them out...one of the leading members must have been Vieri given his p*ss poor attempts at finishing...

Even if..god forbid..we are soundly beaten by the likes of Brazil, Senegal, Turkey etc... hopefully one or two of us might be able to deal with the fact the winners were the better team...

Blame anyone but your own players is the theory they seemed to work to - if anyone was to blame for Italy being knocked out, they should look closer to home - after all, who sat back and made very little effort to seal the game with a second goal, and Vieri had two chances to win the game on his right foot - eve if it wasnt his best foot, both finishes were poor, particularly that miss at 1-1 with 2 minutes remaining.

As for the offside goal in extra time - it may not have been offside, but I think linesmen really do take soe awful stick.

In most cases, these decisions are extremely tight, and after all, a linesman can hardly ever see the player passing the ball through and the receiving player at the same time, so it must often be a gut decision.

No matter how experienced a linesman is, he will never, ever always get it right.

In some cases, onside situations will go against the attacking team, and in others, offside players will get a decision in their favour.

The decision in this game was tight & the 2 decisions in the Croatia game were worse, as they were clearly onside and ok.

Still, as they say, you make your own luck & get what you deserve, so make of that what you will, Italy.

Lets just hope we're not whining in the same way after the Brazil game tomorrow morning.
