Is Ollie better than Lee Boylan

the harder it is for lee to get back in the team at the expense of junior, greggors or ollie the better.. not sure if ollie has the pace for an out an out striker role like lee, but as ive said before he is such an intelligent footballer he makes it look easy.. bit of a sheringham ;-)

they are such different types of player that they cant really be compared, both are fantastic and I cant imagine a squad without them both, if they are fit, as far as Ollie scoring every week goes, Boylans been doing that for the last few years,

I have watched Ollie from his pre Canvey days and I was delighted when we signed him.

He is a very nice guy with a really sweet touch and at times he is just too clever for players around him.

If you watch pre match preparations, even when he is on the bench he goes to every player and shakes hands and wishes them well. He very rarely misses the target in training.

When someone drops a bollock he is there first with a hand on shoulder and a pat on the back. A bit of aggro and he is behind his team mates.

He has bundles of flair at times and is a genuine all rounder.

I am afraid for Ollie he is a bit of a jack of all trades but not quite a master of any (thats not intended as an insult).

I believe he can play in most positions for us and will always do well apart from the increasingly rare occassional off day.

He is not a Lee Boylan who is a master craftsman at his trade at this level.

We have one or two others who are also probably the top of the tree in their position at this level. That is why we are doing so well over the last couple of years.

He is not the striker Lee is but then Lee is nowhere near as adaptable as he is nor does Lee have his brains. That is why he will always be a vital member of the squad.

I think Ollie would make the perfect captain one day as I think he shows true leadership skills.

I believe we have yet to see the best from Ollie as I think there is a genuine communication between him and Lee, that partnership is still developing and when developed watch out!!

We cannot therefore compare, its good to debate and watch though.

Ollie has been fantastic in recent weeks and has bounced back really well from that appalling open goal miss against Morecambe.

Think sometimes he hangs on to the ball a little too long but he is improving with every game and has definitely come on in leaps and bounds this season.

Tend to agree with most of whats been posted.

Wasn't sure how Ollie was going to get on in the Conference but he has done very well. He has worked hard to get into and remain in the starting line up. I feel he staked his claim at Scarborough and caused them all sorts of problems when he ran at them.

Certainly can't compare Ollie and Lee as strikers - Ollie puts a lot of thought into his game, but Lee is absolutely deadly in that position and has proved it over a number of years - his is natural instinct. Likewise I don't think you can compare Junior or Lee - their styles are very different and I think Junior has shown a lot more since Lee has been ruled out. I think Lee would hook up better with Ollie - but can also feed off the likes of Keeling. I'm sure Ollie will improve with time as well.

I do think he hangs onto the ball sometimes a bit to long and gets tackled or loses the ball when making a determined run. I've also noticed that when it "kicks off" a bit, Ollie isn't shy and will stick up for himself or his team mates and sometimes gets booked for his troubles.

Don't think anyone would leave a player such as Lee out of the side - not sure if Ollie would be dropped now but someone will need to make way - Greggors or Junior?

yes maybe but he still hasnt scored from open play yet and i just feel we need someone else now is is more mobile,im not putting greggors down as i think he has been one of our best ever players.

IMHO I think he is starting to feel the pace a little.

He's had some good games, but also some poor ones - particularly where he seems to spend more time on the floor than in the air - fouls or otherwise.

Must admit - I thought he had a drinks problem the amount of times he fell over - he doesn't seem to be able to stand up!

Been subbed a few times as well so perhaps there has been a bit of match fitness that is missing and we are not aware of. Particularly if your getting a whack in the back every Saturday for your troubles.

However, if you take Greggors out of the equation, I don't think you can play Lee and Junior together as they don't compliment each others style.

Greggors has been great and probably has many assists this season, but on the numbers front I'm sure Keeling and Ollie are up there as well.

Perhaps we need someone new in the strike force? hypethetically - who would we like to see and partnered with whom?

greggors is much more than a lumpy target man.. tho he does this very well.. some of his touches and link up play are excellent and his all round vison of the play around him is good as well.. if he aint scoring from open play its because this league is so much harder, he is dropping off to link the play up and putting in other players..or making room for them.. and getting kicked to fk for his trouble.. there is a reason he is on his [****!!****], its because the opposition know so much of the play is going through him so they fking boot him.. so he aint a glory boy any more, in my opinion the ones that do the dirty work are the best players on the team

Yeah - JK has always been a grafter and never afraid to role his sleeves up on a cold winters, muddy and shitty mid week game.

Most of the players have grafted this season and we don't have many primadonnas to be fair - hence why we have been grinding out some results.

Sedgemore (first half only of course) - can't think what you mean

Wonder if his poorer second half displays are down to fitness or the fact he gives his all in the first half and is cream crackered for the second - perhaps he needs more than an orange at half time
