Uncle Urchin
just got back to the sunny midlands and read all the threads and posts below.... hhhhmmmm...well...have to say that the title of my thread is appropriate and that the majority of fleet posts do not reflect the day or the game.... it was one of those games that I could have won lost or drawn without too much emotion either way....a good cup tie....but it was also a game that I never felt we would lose....especially in the second half...we were much the better team... the two penalties were harsh and should not have been given and I have seen the video many times since the game.... the free kick was for a push in the back on weatherstone just off the ball...most refs wouldn't spot it...this one did...I thought the officials were poor without favouring either side.... both sets of fans were well behaved and I never saw any problems....I suppose that there will always be one or two in a local FA Cup game....more likely on both sides.... I have never heard a racist comment in 3 years of being involved with the club and would not tolerate it if I was aware of it...I will ensure that our Chairman touches base with your officials and looks into the alleged incident.... our ground is obviously not up to conference standard but suits us at the moment...we like it.... as for money.....well we took in over 25 grand yesterday including the prize money etc....3 years ago we ran the club on 25 grand a YEAR.... there is no rich benefactor at Hx...only several sponsors who support the clubs yearly shorfall.... what happens if they all pull out...same thing that happens if abramovich or vodofone pull out..... the journey is the most important factor not the destination and we're enjoying it.... as for you lot....you got beaten by a better and fitter team....it could have been worse for you....hopefully most of you enjoyed your day out.... I thought the atmosphere in the ground was great....but each to his/her own.... pity your manager and players scarpered as well after the game....we went to a lot of trouble to lay on food and refreshments... football is full of disappointments..we all share that emotion from time to time.... good luck to you for the rest of the season...
FleetFanatic
Quote: what happens if they all pull out...same thing that happens if abramovich or vodofone pull out..... Yes, you'll do a Telford & disappear down the leagues..... .....apart from that, I'm sure everybody welcomes your post as it is full of well-balanced reasoning. Now, as we have real Conference teams to contend with rather the mickey-mouse 'pretend conference' feeder teams, could you tell the antagonistic wind-up merchants to disappear please ? Thanks. Uncle Urchin
I'll try FF but again trying to be balanced....I'll hardly succeed all the time you choose to antagonise them by calling us a 'MM conference pretend club' its not so long ago that you were here yourselves....
FleetFanatic
the point I'm trying to make is 'game over, we're out of the cup'..... .....in other words, unless we have to play you in the FA Trophy or Conference Cup, I have no interest in Hornchurch any further this season. We have bigger fish to fry now - starting with Carlisle United on Saturday.
Uncle Urchin
hardly consider carlisle as bigger fish...they are only conference are they not.... nope....we were the bigger fish for you to fry.... can't beat that FA Cup live draw can ya.... okay...I'll get me coat and ring a cab.....
Harry J Allstars
Carlisle are bigger fish. Thirty years ago they were a Div 1 (top flight) team. How many other clubs have fallen out of the league in such quick succesion. No my friend I'm afriad if I had to pick between us winning yesterday or beating Carlisle next Saturday I know who I'd pick.... ....Carlisle all the way mate. chilled out entertainer
definitely take a win over carlisle any day. Not even a choice really, it is self evident that the league is more important than the cup. we all love the magic of the cup, but with fixture congestion and the reality that we will not win it, it is only a bit of entertainment. urchinboys
As Unc said we'll enjoy the journey!!!!

Unfortunately this 'little bit of entertainment' cost us £10,000. Point taken, though. After our recent poor league form, the Carlisle game is a biggie.
Guest
Quote Unfortunately this 'little bit of entertainment' cost us £10,000.Quote One consololation though is our increase in gates this seasons would have more than made up for the loss. We must get a defender or two in sharpish, he maybe injured, but is there any chance of getting Dean Beckwith on loan.

pabird
A simple rule of thumb in the are they-are they not a big club is to check on the size of the home crowd during the bad times In those simple terms I would think Carlisle are bigger than the urchins or the fleet

pabird
And you must have played well to do so, congratulations, simply making the point unc that sunderland are bigger than fulham despite being on the down at present
Harry J Allstars
What I mean is that Carlisle with all that history the team that won promotion went to Chelsea and won. Then with all that stuff over the last five years with them almost being relegated but not quite I just can't wait. Okay so lets say that at the moment Carlisle aren't a big club but they are bigger than Hornchurch everyday of the week.

Eastside Urchin
ah,hello all you gravesend fans, must say think you are being a bit unfair to the urchins,it is quite true that we are not as big a side as carlisle,mk dons are not but they are in div1,annoys me that some of the clubs who have been in our position, forget that the lower leagues in the pyramid all the way from the conference to the very edge of english football, provide the fabric to this wonderful game, and all those doubters or sceptics in relation to the money at hornchurch let me quote you an old saying MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND THE WORLD GO ROUND THE WORLD GO ROUND
