How will your ground hold 4500?? 1600 filled it today!!

Agreed! If I wanted to be that far away from the pitch I would have gone and watched a Premiership game!

Seriously though the ground was in good nick, clean and tidy. You need to lose the running track though and increase the stands up the edge of the pitch. Specially at the goal ends! Otherwise you may have trouble meeting the requirements segregated games!

Disappointed but not surprised we lost today..

I did expect a bit more from Hornchurch with all the players they have, but to be fair they worked hard. I thought we were quite poor, and in the last 20 minutes or so when we should have been piling on the pressure we just didn't look like scoring. We just camped out in their half and let Wilko punt the ball up to us, then because we had too many players there we didn't have the space to create anything and the game just degenerating into hoofing game between hornchurch and wilko. If we'd been able to get some space and let moussa run up them who knows what would have happened...

As for the ground i didn't like it. Ok so Stonebridge road isn't great but it has charecter and a proper ground, but that...hmmmmm..surprised it's conf. standard.

Good value programme by the way, £1! I suppose you can afford it with backers with pockets as deep as yours..

Cheer up anyway lads,at least we can concentrate on the league now

Most of the anti-Hornchurch stuff has only come about as a result of one or two Urchins coming on here and being not exactly magnanimous in victory. It's typical tit-for-tat stuff after a cup tie: "Ha, we're better than your Conference crap, Roy and Manny are crap etc etc etc" so one of our lot will respond: "Bankrolled team, crap ground, no fans etc etc etc..."

I think most of us recognise Hornchurch deserved a one-goal victory, although three of the goals were given dubiously, and the match wasn't very good. You've got through to the First Round, well done, but given your draw I'm not as bothered about it as I might have been (had, you say drawn Sheffield W at home or something). I'm more worried about our recent form than being knocked out of the cup, and a few Urchins fans coming on here like they're suddenly the greatest team the world has ever seen is naturally going to annoy us.

To our fans, I'd say - we lost to the slightly better team on the day, let's move on and deal with bigger fish next week.

To them - well done, you're through, enjoy Boston and hope you've enjoyed baiting us. But don't get above your station - all you've done is beat a Conference team at home. We'd done that before too.

Quite a sensible response but just a couple of points ... We did beat Buton and Stevenage last year so your just another notch on the bedpost!!!. We were poor yesterday as I'm sure that you will say you didn't play to your full potential. Yes we have enjoyed baiting you and wish you the best for the rest of the season!

P.S. Our stadium is not fantastic but we like it and there is another entrance that we only use when we need to segregate (as we did in the Tranmere game).
Sorry about the sun it's caused by a local phenomenom called Autumn we'll ask our backer to get the sun moved next time!!

I liked the facilities your ground had, namely the bar, which was v plush, and the toilets. Compared to our wall of piss these were very nice. The running track needs rippin gout though, felt like i was miles away from the pitch.

Our defence was absolutely shocking today, i was hoping when mooro got that knock that he would go off he was that bad. The worst I have ever ever seen him play. Total dog dirt.

Hornchurch were the better side and we lost fair and square, the decisions were pretty guff throughout the whole game and we won some and lost some, so no complaints there.

As much as i hate the fat lump, caskey played quite well, with a well taken goal near the end.Andy brought mousa on way too late, closng the gate after the horse had bolted.

Well done to hornchurch, we need to take a long look at ourselves and get something done if we don't want to seriously slip downn the conference.

Yes, they appear to have spent the money in the wrong place, good for before and after the game, but it's the stands that need improving in my book. The terraces were too shallow, the steps too large, which meant it was difficult to see what was going on from time to time. Still, better than the Rec or the Underhill view-wise...

I presume some kind of temporary seating goes in behind the goals when playing teams with large fan bases; it will be very interesting to see how you accommodate 1-2,000 Carlisle fans next year. I can see segregation being difficult to carry out, with only one set of turnstiles, also the number of exits will need to be increased for a trip to the proper Conference. Is there time to build a new ground for next year?

Bernard, as I've said before the ground is owned by the council. The running track has just been replaced so theres no chance of getting that removed as it is used by the Athletics club. I believe a new stadium is in the pipeline as and when though is still being discussed.

To answer your other question, temporary stands are erected for BIG games which does make the stadium a lot better.

Thanks for your comments though!!

Oh and not forgetting the local residents of Bridge Ave...they love us...not!!!!!

Well apart from the result i enjoyed the visit to Hornchurch yesterday.

The running track did mean that we were a bit far from the action but I've been to worse grounds. The ref/linesman made some dodgy calls mostly our way in the first half mostly theirs in the second probably about even over all.

The right result in the end, Hornchurch deserved to win and an excellent goal by Caskey to win it.

I was dissapointed in both teams performance far too much hit and hope long balls and little imagination shown by either team.

It is also very worrying to see Macca and particularly Skins going off injured....I think our run of good form last season coincided with Skins return from injury.

Good luck to Hornchurch for the next round and I hope they come up, another local derby has to be good for both clubs.

Can I just say, it seems to me that most Fleet fans are actually accepting this defeat very graciously and acknowledging that Hornchurch were better than us on the day. I'm not sure where all the sour grapes have come from exactly?! Think you Hornchurch fans are just trying to invent a reason to gloat to us.
