Highlight of BBC coverage...

...of the England v Nigeria transmission was seeing the camera's switch to the Argentinian's sobbing their hearts out! Heh heh heh!

Draw was always enough & now we get an evening game against Denmark, far better than an afternoon game against Senegal.

France & Argentina out - superb.

Agree that the BBC cutting to the last two minutes of Argies match was great entertainment - better than the England offering. Seeing Batistuta and Veron distraught was priceless.

On the England front, I thought we did OK and made sure of the most important thing - getting through! Bring on the Danes!!

Naturally, I'm delighted that we're through, but does anyone else agree with me that we should've pressed harder for a winner to win the group? The last 20 minutes were dullness personified, and while defending against conceding a goal was admittedly important, surely we could've afforded to commit a few more men forward.

Now our run-in to the final sees us facing a likely quarter-final tie with the impressive Brazil, should we defeat Denmark, whereas if we had won today the earliest we would have to play them would be the semis.

The Denmark game won't be easy, especially if we perform like we did today. For me, the Danes have been the most clinical finishers so far of all of the teams in the World Cup, for they have put away a huge percentage of their chances.

Another point considering is that despite weather conditioning prior to the tournament, hot humid weather is still alien to our boys.

Although not a classic performance this morning I am glad that they conserved their energy for what must a tougher game on Saturday.

And to follow from that thought: If we had won our group we would have been playing at the same time in even hotter conditions against another African side. I reckon we got the best of the deal even if we do have to beat Brazil in the quarters instead of the semis

This is a stitch up!!!

I arrived at work at 5.45 this morning and agreed to work on Saturday morning at double time rates in order to help out some people we are training. Then I find out that THE GAME OF THE WORLD CUP SO FAR is going to start at mid-day

If I dont go in, five other people can't work.

What a bugger! I reckon The Good Lord is an Argentinian and he has found out about me calling Batistuta a long haired girlie during THAT victory and he is getting his own back.

Yeah I think we should have pressed harder for the win too.....then I wouldn't be working during the game!

This is an open appeal - nobody go to the Green Man in Longfield Hill for food during the game, then I might see some of the game!

The trouble with avoiding playing the next round in mid afternoon heat against an African team, is that we are now due to play Brazil in the Quarter Finals in that same mid afternoon heat, whereas we would have played in the evening in the quarter finals had we won the group ( this always assumes both us and Brazil win through of course, )

There is a rumour that Brazil are happy to avoid our side of the draw and wont be bothered about tomorrows result as they are already through- they are also apparently, planning to rest a number of their first choice players. So we could ( & I emphasize could) be in for a further shock result. Perhaps 1-0 Costa Rica ??

Hmmmm - dodgy African outfit (the unknown) in afternoon heat (that suits afore-mentioned team more than it does England) or Brazil (with which we'll know what we're against) in afternoon heat in a later round.....yep, happy with how it's turned out.

As for Brazil - hardly set the world alight in qualifying, struggled against Turkey (late penalty to win), beat China (wow, big deal) and having beaten Argentina, England are more than capable of beating Brazil (as long as we get past Denmark).

Y'know, I think we might just win the World Cup!

And Andy Y - you're not the only person who's got to work Saturday - would have had the same problem Sunday as well!

Still, at least the office has a television licence!

All I can say is thanks a bundle SuperDaz!

I'm absolutely hacked off about the whole thing. There is no prospect of seeing any of the game and if I was to be working properly, (first time for everything!) I shouldn't even have my moby switched on!

That said, those of you who know it, could obllidge me with updates if you would be so kind!

ANDY R, GEOFF, DAN I'M RELYING ON YOU HERE...... THE SAFETY OF THE NATION IS IN YOUR HANDS!!!!!!
