New manager

Recommended Posts

Steve Claridge would certainly be a high profile appointment. I'm not sufficiently knowledgable in the non-league manager scene though to have much of an informed opinion. Hopefully the relevant people at SACFC are. I'd like to see someone come in from outside (rather than an internal appointment). I think we need a fresh set of eyes, someone with a bit of objectivity.

Oh yes. Just what we need. An ex-pro with a proven track record in err..err...playing pro football.

We've had one or two of those lately. An unbroken track record of success.

A little revolutionary, I know, call me a rebel by all means, and don't forget that I don't know anything about football, but how about someone who knows what they doing as a manager in a Non League football club at this level in the pyramid?

No. It wont work. Too extreme I imagine. A far-fetched idea from the start. I wish that I had kept my stupid thoughts to myself.

Hi Canv. Always good to speak [in a manner of speaking.]

You probably don't realise this, Canv, but when you have seen a couple of my postings on here concerning the club Ferraris what all of the players, including the Yoof team get, well let me make a confession. There was a very slight exaggeration there.

They dont.

Hill couldn't be tempted away from the Urchins. He, Fairclough and Borg are full-time posts and while George wont last much longer at Braintree, I'm dont think that he's the answer.

My money's on Sir Bobby Robson.

Hi Woody.

You agree about Bjorn Borg? When do you have him down to experience technical difficulties with the chairman and leave The Mighty Iron then?

No don't go there, Woody. Let's concentrate on matters much closer to home.

At least we will be spared the bullsh!t about the 4 hour board meetings every second night for the next month while the top names in football are interviewed for the vacant post. Small mercies, eh Woody?

Interested by the comments on this thread, some of them informed some, how shall I put it, a little wide of the mark!

If I may offer a little advice, don't allow the Club to under-sell itself. It remains a big club in non-league football and will be attractive to any ambitious manager. I can think of a number of recommendations I could make but, perhaps, that wouldn't be appropriate.

Bottom line, I hope that the Club secures a good manager and can ease itself away from the relegation places - the staff and supporters deserve it. Best wishes and good luck to you all, yes even AFF!

If ever we need advice on how to rack up £100,000 debts, have the club suspended from the League and the limited company that is the club facing a winding-up order in the High Court in London, and, not least become a laughing-stock in Non League football, we'll know just where to come.

Fair shout AFF, I did my best, but mistakes were made which were paid for. In life, the important thing is to learn from those mistakes, not make the same mistakes again and move on.

We've had our disagreements, but I hope we both want(ed) the same thing and that is for what was my and is now your Club to be successful and enjoyable to be associated with.

You don't like me, that's your prerogative. For me, life’s too short. I enjoyed my association with St. Albans and hope that folk like you will continue to support the Club and take it forward. Good luck to you, young man!
