Gary, I need to contact you somehow, re background on the Clubs current position, are u the best person to contact initially, if not who? I've watched this site for approximately 2 years, and u seem to be well informed and impartial regarding club and officials.

Quick question Rebel Rouser - are you in any way related to the "Friends of Slough Town FC" who appeared during the dispute with the council back at the start of the season?

A very good question--hopefully it will get an answer.

Sorry to be a wet blanket but watch out, Rebel Rouser has forgotten who he is again.....

Quote from the Martyn Deaner Thread by Rebel Yell....

"Firstly, Its not Rouser who was interested in becoming a backer of the club, its me Yell. Secondly the abuse started at Rouser for his comments about Deaner, rightly or wrongly his opinions matter, as much as Deaners followers! Thirdly why oh why would ring a guy called Sliski about backing STFC? Dont I need to talk to present incumbent? Deaner? Frankly if u had any background about STFC u would find financially and commercially it is a MESS!"

So why does he now want to find out about the background? He's been shouting as if he knew all about it, abusing people who do as "pricks". Does anybody REALLY want him involved? We have told him the best way to do it - if he is serious - give some support to the Trust. The Trust is required by its deed to act in the best interests of the club, which may not be best interests for some......

The bickering and swipes at each other does nothing for the club. Splits in the fan base over the past four years have only helped Deaner to retain power and make poor decisions. It's not a good record

Does Deaner consider money he has 'put in' STFC as spent and gone or a loan which must be repaid if the club changes hands from the remnants of FRUS? Would any new purchaser have to pay off existing unpaid bills?

In any case Gary should communicate with anyone who might be able to put things back on an even keel. This includes the anti-Deaner Rebel wing, Rouser Yell and so on. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

It is good to talk but I find it easier when the person I am talking to has a name and a face. I am not sure there is much of a split between the regular posters on here. This all started when people like Yell and Rousers appeared to go shitstirring. It may be that they have legitimate ideas and proposals for the club but if so a real name and some indication of who they are and what they want may help.

It seems odd that three people who essentially agree with each other Yell, Rouser and "Good to talk" all post anonyomously and whilst unregistered.

Well "Good to talk", whoever you are, I think we have already established that Rebel Yell/Rouser is NOT a fan of the club, and the postings so far do not lead me to believe that this is a serious attempt to do anything to help Slough Town Football Club. If these anonymous posters really want to help there are two routes. One is to buy FRUS, which owns the club, (which at the last set of declared accounts was ove £650k in the red, which would have to be cleared). There is another set of accounts due, in which things may have improved. However,I doubt that the Directors of FRUS would sell the club and keep the debts!

Then there are many ways to approach the Board - Mr Deaner is reported in the press as trying to set up a new Board, so surely any business person worth their salt would be approaching Mr Deaner and asking about financial participation in the new Board - he may say no, but you said it, its good to talk! Or make the Directors an offer and make it public.

But they would not just be making anonymous postings on a website, slagging off the fans, whose support they may yet need, and the current Chairman. And certainly not researching a potential takeover on a discussion forum!!!

The second method is to do what I have already suggested, which is by far the best way if one REALLY supports the club and if one has money one can afford to give away for a football club, then give it to the Supporters Trust. It is a legal Trust charged with operating to the benefit of the club, not the benefit of business people, who tend to be looking to make a few bucks, like the Saddo who appeared as the MD of Luton Town on the telly last night - Big plans, mystery backers, no cash when it mattered! Thank goodness their Trust saw him off.

So forgive me if I appear very cynical about this approach, I really have no problem with a genuine backer with the interests of the club at heart, but all this anonymous cloak and dagger stuff, whilst making provocative and abusive statements on the forum about Deaner and the Fans, just does not ring true of the sorts of business people I, and I suspect most fans, would want to see helping us.

And I'll believe it when I see it!
