Football League to Conference (& vice versa)

Recommended Posts

At least we'll only have to finish fifth next season to stand a chance of going up, instead of first.

And had it happened last season, we'd've been playing Bristol Rovers as well.

Fleet v Barnsley season after next anyone...? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />

Hopefully now the conference will dangle an extra promotion place to the three feeder leagues below.

I appreciate that this may not be in the Mighty Fleets interest next year but;

How about playoffs between the 3 teams that finish 2nd in the feeder leagues , and the team that finishes 4th from bottom in the conference.

It will have the benefit, of keeping the feeder leagues more interesting right up to the final games ( I know that ours last year couldn't have been more interesting , but most years that isn't the case) , it also rewards teams who have had a good season but just missed out on automatic promotion , with some potential money spinning games, even if they don't win the eventual play offs.

The only losers are the 4th from bottom Conference team, but if they are good enough they will stay up, and if they are not, they will at least have more of a chance of getting back up again the following season.

Yes indeed I have made it across but not left my beliefs behind.

I've given up my lands and welcome the Republic but not a banana one only a French Bread Republic.

May the Force we with The Fleet this coming Season, and with England over in the Far East.

PS Will Singapore Sam be reporting from the land of the Rising Sun (no ! Not the pub) ?

Not quite as lively as the old board, but hopefully some of the more humourous members of the Fleet family will make it across before the season starts..

Banana Republic - One of Sir Bobs' finest numbers, verging on a SKA rythem and beat, and to take a quote from the great Boomtown Rat, if anyone from the club reads this ' I DONT LIKE MONDAYS' for midweek games.

Singapore Sam was last seen rambling incoherently in the aforementioned 'Rising Sun' after the Sweden game, I think that he's eastern escapades are behind him, especially after the unsavoury incident with the Thai lady boys !! .

Up the Fleet and all who sail in her.

PS. Should be at the Thursday club this week , to catch up on all the Fleet gossip

Good idea Wobbly about the play offs for the 2nd place teams to get into the conference, I am sure that there would be big support for this from our friends over the water.

So I take it that you are confident that we will finish above the 4th from bottom spot for next year ?

Quietly confident of a mid table finish, as long as we get off to a good start, and take more of our chances that we create.

I am sure Canvey would jump at the chance of play offs bearing in mind they have finished 2nd for the last two seasons.

But thinking about last season, if things had gone wrong for us on that last day at Bedford, would we now have found ourselves in the same position as Canvey , ie an exodus of players and a team that is seemingly going backwards.

Luckily its not a subject that we need to dwell on.

Hopefully catch up with you all on Thursday

I see that someone was championing Wobblys idea in the NLP this Sunday, albeit a more complicated version..

Was it Wobbly in disguise ??? Is Wobbly being lined up to be the next FA chief Exec ??

We need to know ?
