Decent match report, that.

 

Looking back has reminded me. Many of the problems at the football club today stem from that period when we were playing very poor footbal but 'getting away with it'.

 

We were desperate that day at Sudbury. Roberts and Cook did not have a clue how to play that game. I remember Robbo talking to the Observer around that time. "Our network of scouts....'. Network of scouts my backside.

 

It's a complex game, of course. I don't know anything about football but I do know that hoofing it long towards Stafford Browne when the opposition have four tractor drivers at the back, all well over 6ft tall, is unlikely to produce the desired result.

 

Clueless.

Remember that day well. We lost 3-2 to Slough in the FA Cup, an absolutely wretched display that I would rather forget.

That 7-match winning run - what a freak of nature that was. I can't actually remember us playing well and dominating any of those seven games.

 

Still, I'd swap that for what we've got now.

 

That thread was started ten days before my wedding day. Hard to believe that both St Albans and Spurs were top of their respective leagues on my wedding day.
