Agree with that Squawk, they are two Towns in the borough of Gravesham, in 1946 they joined together, Gravesend had the team, Northfleet the ground + Gravesend is the major town, but as a Northfleet born lad i would have liked just plain old Northfleet.

Probably wrong if so i am sure someone will put it right.

mmmmm, bit of a mouthful when singing. do you chant an abbreviated version, how do you get your tongue round say " gravesend & northfleet are going up ! " or have still to cross that hurdle. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

Okay so Railwaymans Institute. Right wheres the word beging with 'M' to make them RMI?

I dont see any Fleet or Ends of Graves and were not in the North but that didn't stop us.

I might be wrong but.....

.....Gravesend got it's name from the bubonic plague as the area was used as a dumping ground for the dead bodies? Hence the 'Graves' - 'end' being the end of the journey to the dumping area?

As for Northfleet - River Fleet - Northfleet is 'North' of where it was, hence there also being a Southfleet?
