Margate match

Only found out when driving into the car park. Saw Greenie and Pat (Greenie has had his pin out and has movement in the leg, but no pain - hopes to start physio on Monday!)

The rest of the team, I was told, had gone somewhere for training. The rain was pretty foul. (As was my mood coming back)

[color:"blue"] Like MargateFan only found out when we turned into the Basingstoke car park, agree with Wasted trip that the pitch did have large bodies of water on it and there were only puddles in the penalty area, but wasn't there when the inspection took place or during one of those torrential downpours we saw on the journey. Farnborough also played & they're just 15-20 minutes up the motorway.

But I'd guess that, if asked, CK may have objected to playing in poor conditions, knowing we're down to bare bones in the squad and not wishing to risk further weather-induced injuries. Though, that's just a theory for discussion of course.

Snap- it must be the area.

I also went to the aborted Game at Farnboro last year.

I rang at 2pm and told game on , so very frustrating as at 2.30 it was off.

Think Alex C was playing as was stripped to play.

Went to see Farnboro v Dagenham-arrived right on kick off.

Jake was average and both sides poor, but worth the £10 for all the action in the last 2 mins on stoppage time-goalie sent off, twice taken penalty etc.

Agree pitch looked playable & every other game went ahead.Took the missus, who'd driven down from Worcester to see me for the weekend & went back yesterday so she has spent three days travelling up & down on the motorways-I've got a lot of making up to do.was it just me or is Basingstoke a very unwelcoming place(the ground looked grim) or it could have been the bleak weather or my mood.I asked a taxi driver do you know where the football ground is and he goes "yes thanks",which I suppose is quite funny but at the time was'nt what I needed. As I said a strange place but then Ive never seen a footy ground right on a duel carriageway before. All in all a crap day out.Does'nt get any easier supporting the Gate.Oh well-onwards and upwards-hope. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/teleport.gif" alt="" />
