between a rock and a hard place

Thought a Dave Cooper esque cliche is appropriate here. Reading all the posts on the dealings between the club and the council, am I the only person who feels that the only people being honest about their true feelings and intentions are the supporters?

I have felt for a long time that the club representatives are still paying for the naive and misguided decision to demolish HP without ever having the proper safeguards in place to ensure a rebuild would be allowed. I also feel they are too proud/naive/misguided to realise that their original grandiose plans for casino/hotel leisure wonderland were far too much too soon and laid them open to the sort of delays, half truths, last minute changes of plans etc that have blighted us ever since and bought the club to its knees. I have never read anywhere a proper explanation as to why the club went down this road, and it amazes me that plans have not been downgraded to concentrate on just football and bar facilities - which hundreds of clubs up and down the country survive perfectly well on. You could even argue that we gave up our conference status purely because of these decisions, as the writing was on the wall( Dave Cooper 1978) long before we were actually relegated what with the Dover saga etc.

However I also feel that all of the above has led to an opprtunity for the local puffed up politicians to indulge in their two favourite sports - manipulation and self interest. HP is a goldmine for them. Kill off the club through the classic political tactics of the day - manipulation of news, last minute rewriting of agendas, clever shifting of blame, claiming the moral high ground, speaking of sport as a minority interest - we have been the victim of all of them. They have succeeded so far in coming out of this saying they are protecting the interests of Thanet (since when has that been an interest of councillors?) and making the club look desperate and at times a bit amatuer in its dealings.

Which leaves us fans as the only people really showing any honesty. Frankly I have lost faith in the whole murky and seemingly endless process. It seems almost inevitable that what was a fantastic achievement and opportunity has been wasted on both the club and the council's side. I wonder if I will ever get to see my team again, especially as I am now up in Lincolnshire.

It seems like a miracle is needed now.

Well said .My thoughts entirely and those of many.I believe that when the inevitable comes then representatives from both sides (we all know exactly who they both are)should hang their heads in shame. !!!!!

totally agree with all youve said especially the bit about ripping up the pitch and knocking everything down someone must have given the go ahead and that person is totally to blame for the sad situation we are now in

If people accept that our current woes are mostly down to the evil Tory council, can anyone answer me this? Why aren't the opposition parties at TDC kicking up a stink about all this? Surely this is a great opportunity to drag the controlling Tory group through the mire? Or maybe they know there is more to this story than meets the eye?
