Conference South League leaders Hornchurch have strengthened the squad with a double signing today.

Signing from Dagenham and Redbridge is central midfielder Danny Hill. Danny has made almost 100 appearances for the Daggers, having signed from Cardiff City in 2001. Danny started his career at Tottenham as a trainee, spending six years with the Premiership side, during which he had loan spells with Birmingham City, Watford & Cardiff. Leaving Spurs in 1998 Danny joined Oxford United for a three month spell before being snapped up by Cardiff City, where he spent three successful years. Danny has signed a contract until the end of the season.

Also signing today is goalkeeper Abiodun Baruwa from Dagenham and Redbridge. Abiodun is 39, and is a Nigerian International having played for Nigeria in the 1998 World Cup in France. He also holds an Olympic Gold Medal from Atlanta in 1996 - having been included in the squad that beat both Brazil and Argentina on their way to the title. Abiodun has played in the Champions League with the Austrian club Sturm Graz, having previously had European experience with FC Sion in Switzerland. In the UK Abiodun played for Barry Town before signing for Dagenham and Redbridge in Summer 2003. Abiodun has signed on non-contract terms.

Danny and Abiodun both go straight into the squad for the Conference South trip to fifth placed Lewes on Saturday.

Welcome to the club lads....

mmm, good point. This guy has been on loan so many times he must be getting really hacked off.

I seem to remember that when he was at Ipswich he got loaned out to Blackpool and then P'boro who eventually took him.

At least he's bound to get some first team action at Welling - shame it will involve mostly picking the ball out of the net!
