"Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you"

Very interested to read that the likes of The Darkness, Blobby Williams, Oasis and co. have decided to do a cover version of EFM's most famous hit!

It would be nice if Sir Bob gave me or the Great Leader a call about the EFM choir perhaps contributing a verse to the new recording. My mobile is always on, Bob. Well, apart from when I'm avoiding Thornsy.

Here is the full story...

Coldplay and Darkness form Band Aid III

British rockers Coldplay, The Darkness and Travis are joining forces to re-record Band Aid hit Do They Know It’s Christmas? in a new drive to alleviate Africa's famine crisis.

The song - written by Live Aid organisers Bob Geldof and Midge Ure - was originally released in 1984 and featured the singing voices of stars like Bono, Duran Duran and George Michael.

The single went on to help raise $14.4m (€11.5m) for Ethiopia's starving population.

Four years after Live Aid's fundraising success, Geldof and Ure collaborated again on Band Aid II and called on the year's (1989) hottest acts to cover the tune.

And now, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, The Darkness star Justin Hawkins and Travis rocker Fran Healy have all reportedly vowed to drop their upcoming commitments to form Band Aid III.

According to Britain's The Sun newspaper, Martin has told Ure: "I'm really up for it. I'm in the middle of recording a Coldplay album but I'll be anywhere you want me to be and sing a couple of lines."

Geldof and Ure are also reportedly urging Noel Gallagher, Robbie Williams, Jamelia, Blur and Dido to join the 2004 line-up.
