City Legends XI

I think his record is enough to make him a city legend. I don't need to have seen him play to realise he was pretty damn good!

Anyway, you've voted for Dean Austin and Allan Cockram without ever having seen them play for City! Maybe you should vote for Paul Price because he played for Wales.

Trying to curry favour with Dean Austin then, Zeal?

"Watcha Deano. Welcome to Fortress Clarence Park. Good luck in your new role as Manager of the Mighty Saints. I was the only person who voted for you for election to the All-time City Legends XI, mate. Do you have strong views on flares on the terraces?"

Totally agree, Ted. No different from saying Tom Finney shouldn't be included in a best ever England XI, even if you hadn't personally seen him at Wembley, Deepdale or wherever.

How many games did you see Cockram play for Spurs, Zeal?

No - I've only been watching City since 84!

Seriously though, I'd struggle to name many City players from before 84, and yet Billy (sorry Wilfred) Minter I've heard of a great deal. Probably the same for a lot of other supporters. He even had a trophy named after him (for a while). I reckon all in all that makes him a legend.

Apologies for the insult - I meat to say that you're an idiot.

Having been a supporter of the mighty saints for around 25 years we have had many great players over the years, but true legend status can only fall to three individuals 2 of whom I have had the fortune to see play for the saints, and one that only a handful of people alive have had the privalage.

Billy Minter - Record second to none, and a record that will never be broken.

Steve Clark - The greatest striker that I have seen in non league football, a gentleman, and a footballer with a true brain.

Phil Wood - 900+ games for the saints need I say more.

May be we should consider having a hall of fame that picks out the true greats, from excellant players

Wilf, Paul Mayles was an absolutely excellent player, my personal hero. He could as you have said scored from any where. And is the only player that I have seen that could foul an opponent and be given the penalty in his favour, along with his amazine ability to go down in the box. For me his is a legend, not sure if he would qualify as a hall of famer. Will Paul get into my city legends XI. If it on the players that I have seen then yes, upfront would be Paul Mayles and Steve Clark.
