As I remember it, Carlisle Railway Station facade reminded me of the Bastille just before the revolutionaries stormed it.

 

It was ALWAYS raining !!!

 

The one-way system was a NIGHTMARE !!!

 

The clientele in the pubs were all as miserable as sin and the only place you COULD get a good cheap meal and pint was at the Carlisle Truck Stop, just off the motorway !!!

If ever there was a GOOD advert for NOT travelling North of the Watford Gap, Carlisle was it !!! [color:"black"]
