Just got back.Went by car so others prob.not back yet.So to the game. This is how I saw it.

Braintree, a bad bad side (and thats not sour grapes). They scored on their only three attempts at goal and all their goals were by our teams [****!!****]-ups. First goal, Keister is nutmegged or beaten by the goaline but within the box and catches the player as he goes around John. Penalty.

2nd goal the defence stood still once again as in previous games waiting for an offside flag but none was raised. Guy took on Trego, who did well to take him wide but the player got round him and squeezed it in from a tight angle.

3RD goal, an appallingly short back pass to Trego by Charambous but he in turn was very slow to come and collect and SODJE nipped in to score. That was Braintree's attack and chances. Yes,literally 3 chances 3 goals and all our own mistakes. This defence is all at sea. O.k. we lost Edwards early and we really did miss him though the replacement of Ross Smith did a fair job. Trego did fine until that back pass then he seemed to want to emulate well known keepers by the name of Bartez/Grobbelar. Well it certainly looked like it to me.

Chamboulous played right back did o.k. but ended up all over the place and even ended up in the left wing attacking position.

We didnt really get at them and I really do feel the team let everyone down today. We stepped up a gear early second half but just didnt have the know-how of what to do. Good goal by Gradely though original header by Aaron was the more memorable. Never saw Gradely after that.

We just didnt perform against a poor side. They were certainly there for the taking.

Our defence was all over the place and I mean that in more ways than one.

We lost Clarkie too when we needed him and Che worked extremely hard. Rocky, well what can I say about Rocky. Again when I'm watching he dosent do anything. Am sure he feels a class above all this. His work rate was dire and didnt do much at all.Sorry you fans of his but thats what I saw.

We should have had a penalty when Benevides was pulled down in the box.We got nothing. The scoreline was then 2-1.

Qverall a very dissapointing game by both sides but a game that we should have won and pocketed £5000 if only the team were up for it, and in my eyes they werent. No excuse, no mention of lack of players we should have buried them even with these players. One mention of Bulley. He came on late and showed the correct attitude.Laid of some good balls with his head) and immediately was geeing up the others.THATS the spirit and endevour and passion we are missing at the moment. He deserves more chances as does Moses. Poor result, poor game, poor teams. Poor performance by the team by the lads out there.Am greatly dissapointed.

Cookie, In the ground was Mark Green & his Mum, Darren Watson (with silly hat on) Alex's Dad, Adrian Clarke's dad, the new goalie, Chris Kinnears' Mum & Dad, his son, Greg Oates. Yes it wasn't good but keep the faith.

So you lost to a bad bad side, does that make you a bad bad bad side then ?.

And exactly how many chances did you create as a team ?

Any neutral in the crowd would have struggled to name the team from the higher league.

I don't recall either goalkeeper having to make any saves, Braintree scored 2 goals from errors but the second was a nice goal scored on the break from a Margate corner.

Will agree about your number 10 didn't look interested at all.

Almost have to agree with all of that Tony except Braintree were well organised which i think is fair. CK very annoyed afterwards and his radio interview not a fair reflection of what he felt. This was disappointing but to lose Billy was a blow but the new lad did very well. Certainly we are not the side we were last time there and they wer'nt either. Not the same atmosphere. Che to me was excellent once again. I liked Tregos enterprise at the end of the game as well. Still we will get 3grand on Monday for the last win and about half that for the part share of gate. Defence needs tightening. Still we played and the news yesterday was at least heartening. Hang in there everyone its going to be a long climb back but it can be done. Nice to see 60 odd there today. Not much to shout about though.

Mjt.You got your second goal by our defence standing and looking. You woudn't have had that opportunity against better better teams. You won o.k. and because you didnt make mistakes or play like WE did you triumphed. Yes today we were shocking, even more than you.I repeat this is not sour grapes but fact (as I saw it).Good luck in the next round.Am already looking for odds against you winning whoever it may be. Congratulations anyway.

Cookie, thanks for your view of the game. Your opinion just like anybody elses is valid. The performance was a disappointment. But I guess the remark in repose to your first post was just a big picture comment. Given where we were at midday on Friday, to be "able" to lose 3-1 was in itself a victory. I'm not sure how it would feel to be a Margate player at the moment so I'm tempted to go for the bigger picture angle and out yesterday's result down to non-football stuff in the heads of our payers, and as often happens, them being more up for a tilt at higher league opposition.

I, the same as others, if not more, am extremely happy about the recent off-field news though I would like to say I am still not counting my chickens. But having this news should have had the opposite effect on the players surely to that which you are remarking. Of course we are happy to still have a team/club/game but with that we HAVE these still, we should have got on with business at hand, winning this game against inferior opposition. There was NO excuse for a lacklustre performance like that. Mind you there is always the possibility they arent good enough and that would explain it. However I feel that is not the case and so yesterdays show can have NO excuses.

I think yesterdays game probably came a few days to early for dust to have settled over last weeks events.

If you were a player/manager on thurs. night, effectively you were looking for new employment.

24hours later, you were expected to win £5k for the club to assist keeping it solvent,

Think the phrase goes something like-'its doin me 'ead in'.

As last week, it does appear CK is assembling a decent squad now.

Have total respect these days for CK,and now he has to turn this decent squad into a winning team.

He particularly needs to show that he can coach a defence, ot ,even if its just for a month, buy in the skills of a specialist defensive coach.Something has to be done to sort the continual defensive lapses out.

Best we can hope for now is mid-table in the league, but if funds can keep the squad together for rest of season, string some decent results together so that relegation is not a threat, and above all, keep what appears to be a decent squad together over the summer ,rather than start afresh again , we could start to enjoy life again next season.

Fear is short term funding.Usually after FA CUP exits, clubs start to sell off their best players.

Just hope Oates, a fit AC etc. Greenie etc., stick on in their;and club can afford them.

The likes of Watson on the scene,Greenie returning before christmas, and early reports on the new defender give me some cause for optimism.

I went to the game as well and I mostly agree with cookie.

The only thing I have to add is that the referee was the worst I have ever seen. Im sure they must have paid him I have never seen anyone give more dropped balls when they should have been gate free kicks especially the horrid two footed lunge. The penalty should not have been one and it is my belief that if we had not conceded it we would have won the game.

All the team were there saw Watson, Pulman and Green in the bar. Why Pulman wasnt on the bench is beyond me when will he get a chance. I also still think we need a new midfielder to play with Keister. Gradley's goal was good but that is all he did all game he has to be replaced.

Hopefully the good ground news will see more people coming to 'home' games and the league form can be consistent.
