Hemel Hempstead Town U18 0 Enfield Town U18 1

Recommended Posts

Town sneaked through this FA Youth Cup tie with a Jason Sorial goal in the 90th minute after poor Hemel finishing had let them down all evening.

Having been forced by Brimsdown Rovers to switch the tie to Hemel, the "home" side made most of the running and created at least ten good goalscoring opportunities but only hit the target with two of them. At the other end, chances were rare and Town were also guilty of poor finishing. Oppey Oredein did put the ball in the net two minutes from time but the effort was harshly ruled out for offside. However, two minutes later, and with extra time looming, substitute Sorial made sure from close range.

Town will now be away in the third qualifying round to the winners of Monday evening's Haringey Borough v Barnet tie.

A few weeks ago they were Potters Bar Town U18 FC and nothing to do with us. Now Brimo are supposed to have block Potters Bar Town U18's playing as ETFC U18's. Mind games PBTFC! The under 18's to my knowledge have never been planned to play on the hallowed Brimsdown turf.

I keep getting told the U18's are your team and therefore kipping on your sofa at the moment. Enjoy! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/djsmile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/djsmile.gif" alt="" />

People have been banging on about we must have a reserve team to bring the future players in and this is the next best thing, so lets get behind them and cheer them on not stab them in the back.

We should get behind them and encourage the better ones to join us and build for the future, theres and ours.

FA Youth Cup ties must be played on the main first team ground and Brimsdown would have been listed as the home venue when the application form was submitted to the FA last April. Either nobody from ETFC checked with Brimsdown if this would be okay at the time or Brimsdown have changed their minds. However, if there are any sanctions to come from the FA over this (albeit unlikely), they will be imposed upon ETFC, not Brimmo.

We were asked to stage the tie but were unable to do so. I understand that two other local clubs were also unable to help out so the tie had to be switched to Hemel.

Likewise! I know of two fans who were sitting in a bar bored out of their brains on Thursday night who would have loved to have been at Hemel. Methinks Press and Publicity have dropped a clanger here.

ETFC's youth manager Mike Smee has gone on record as saying he doesn't care about the Eastern Junior Alliance league, only the FA Youth Cup.

Also the ETFC Youth site is pants and hasn't been updated since Nov last year.

So if Mr Smee would like to send Neil Avey more uptodate information via Ciaran I'm sure he'd be more than happy to update it for you!
