Steve Browne

You poor, poor people. Expect mercenary players, two faced man management, and very, very poor financial management.

Given the predicament you guys find yourselves in financially, you couldn't have picked a worse gaffer. Hope you see the light soon and get rid.

If you thought you had problems before......!

You might want to start the 'Browne Out' campaign now - it took more than two years for him to take the hint at Slough, and you really don't want to contemplate the damage he can do in that time.

Great stadium, good support - what on earth inspired you to choose Browne ?????

Good luck !

Tension is running high over at Dover Athletic.

Their forum has been sizzling with activity this morning (thankfully without the assistance of Rebels fans giving them grief).

From skim-reading a number of their posts, the club has a large (25) but relatively inexperienced side, with no funds to increase the wage bill, and a desperate need to return some decent results. A number of the fans have read this thread and it has provoked a lot of angst amongst them.

For DAFC's sake, I hope that SB has learnt from his time at Hemel Hempstead, and can make the best of a fresh start, so that the Whites fans will not regret his appointment. However, I remember thinking exactly the same when he moved to Boreham Wood - and they turfed him out inside three months!

If you are interested in following the story further, there is an interview with him on the DAFC official site, and he is expecting to be submitting a 'column' for the site in the very near future.

In the interview, SB states: "If people don't perform, they won't be here in three to four weeks time."

I wonder if that applies to the non-playing staff too?

Is this a wind up? has to be the worst manager in the history of our club, there was no tactics he could never motivate the players he was worst then a joke and its taken us 3 wasted years to undo the mess he left behind. Sorry Dover but you will go down now

Please accept my sincerest condolences Dover Fans.

This guy's managerial record is atrocious, expect high player turnover, lots of false promises (he will try to charm you), favouritism/nepotism - some players are annointed whilst others are discarded and tactical ineptitude.

He took a team with a huge budget and tipped as one of the favourites for the Premier and got them relegated. That was us btw. Then he failed to earn us promotion.

He does not care what the fans think of him and when he moves on as he inevitably will expect him to pilfer some of your half decent players.

Having said all that he will doubtless be very keen to get one over on us when you visit the Stag.

Good luck.

ABO, just look at the beaming picture of him on the Dover website. I bet he can't believe his luck at being handed another two year contract as manager.

Troy Townsend has gone with him, shock.

He expects to bring 4/5 new faces in this week I wonder who they will be.

The interview continues:

[color:"purple"]...Browne invites fans to come along and he will be happy to talk to supporters after the game.

He said: "I'm really looking forward to meeting the fans. They can talk to me for as long as they like on Thursday and Saturday...."[/color]

'S funny, but I don't remember him communicating a great deal with the Slough fans.

Please note Dover fans - the general feeling of us Rebels toward you is pity rather than gloat.

Good luck for the rest of the season (except vs STFC <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />) - I think you're gonna need it.

Good to see Steve Browne moving forwards!! - that is from us to Bwood (mid table) to HH (relegated) to Dover where I am sure he will work his majic and have them relegated before Xmas!!!!!

When will Chairman learn that he is self centred and only in it for the money and the "family"

Dover have enough problems without Browne and his cronies, the quicker they see this, they just might save themselves from the chop.

Browne used every expletive under the sun in his 'private' abuse of me rather than ask why the article had managed to make the programme. It was nowt to do with me!

Within a week, he was smarming up to me as if we were best mates.

He's two faced, manipulative, cash hungry, poorly disciplined and a poor man manager to go with it. I can see how he got the job as he's learnt what to say, when to say it, and who to say it to, to get the things he wants.

Having said that with regard to comments above, he always said he was happy to meet with any of the supporters after matches and training if they wanted to talk to him. No-one did, so we can hardly claim he didn't. He offered at least.

Ask Norbert, he started it!

It was the match after the 2-2 home draw with Hertford (bottom at the time) and the match report which made the 'Official Website' page in the programme contained the comment - "Is Browne finally on his way?". This didn't actually appear on the website and I had little to do with the final version of what went in the programme.

I didn't have much time for Dover after the run-in I had with their secretary on the opening day over covering the advertising hoardings with my flag. However, no club deserves such misfortune as to have this ignorant clown in charge.

I don't know whether the changing rooms at Dover are within earshot of supporters but if you listen closely at away grounds at half-time you will be treated to Steve Browne's two motivational team talks. One is to shout at, swear at and verbally abuse players, the other is to shout at, swear at and verbally abuse players plus threaten to withold wages and bonuses, probably that he wasn't entitled to offer them in the first place.

Boreham Wood fans said it was sour grapes when we made the same comments to them. Later that season they were back on our forum admitting we were right. I fear very badly for your future although am now hugely looking forward to December 11th when we can give Browne the reception he so richly deserves.

Having been watching the DAFC forum for the past couple of days, what chance is there that Browne will still be at Dover (or even that Dover Athletic will still be at Dover?) come Dec 11th?

The DAFC fans remain optimistic, despite the downbeat postings of a couple of Hemel fans, but SB will need to produce a miracle there, and soon.

Incidentally, anyone know whether DAFC is being run by a supporter's trust? That is the impression I have, from their forum, and they seem to be in pretty poor shape financially - maybe some lessons to learn? (Like a run of poor performances leading to reduced gates leading to lower income leading to lower wage budget....)

I'm bound to be vilified for saying so, but I can't help feeling sorry for the poor DA fans at present - the last thing they need right now is a manager like Steve Browne (unless, of course, he has learned from his experiences at Slough, Boreham Wood and Hemel). Time will tell...
