Council meeting 14 October 2004

Please check that this item is actually on the agenda on the day. It is not unusual for items to be withdrawn at very short notice!

It may be worth someone phoning the council during the day (of the meeting) and posting on here if it is still on the agenda.

This is only as a precaution and as a result of some info that I picked up last week!

Have e.mailed Mr. Ezekiel to confirnm that Margate f.c. are in fact on the agenda for thursday night and he has replied stating that the club is NOT at present on the aganda but that the council were meeting with the club today, TUESDAY. A word of warning though that this may just be a ploy to avert a mass attendance from our fans.Alternatively he may just be telling the truth.Think people should take note his comments that the club is not YET on the agenda so we could still be. It's up to you whether you attend but if I wasn't working that night I would STILL get there anyway, even if just to show solidarity/show them our resolve. Its up to you.!!

Except to give us the go-ahead and/or work with the club to come to a satisfactory conclusion. If things weren't done correctly, and the council REALLY wanted to help, how come they didn't get their guys in the know to help resolve things so as to get to that satisfactory conclusion.Yes Michael, I do thank him for replying so quickly and perhaps I may be doing him a injustice but with the FACTS and PROOF that we are not yet back at hartsdown, I can only continue with my sceptical thoughts of the council.Sorry but until they actually DO something positive to help us my opinion will remain. Its up to them to convince me and up to now they most definately havent. And no amount of telling me to shut up by certain quarters will succeed at this time.

Thing is though Terry, has'nt it been up to MFC to drive it forward, and get TDC in supportive mode .

Seems at last there is some support forthcoming, but TDC are not a charity, are responsible to, i guess, about 150000 Thanet residents (what is Thanets population these days?) and have to do the job right.

It seems mutual attitude is now right that they will help MFC if MFC help them.

There again, what do we know about whats really been happening?

MARGATE is my MILAN

It appears that tonights meeting with the club may be to see if things have progressed. Mr Ezekiel has implied that they could still be on the agenda on Thurs and so maybe that is why the meeting is tonight. An official announcement by the club tomorrow would be welcome, especially as it has been a bit quiet lately

From a mole within TDC we are to prepare ourselves for the worst possible news. It appears that the TDC have regenade on the terms of the leases. Information received indicates that the developers have been offered 125 year leases on the commercial with MFC being offered a 12 month licence which in effect means that the club would have to go cap in hand each year to the council for a renewal. This I believe would be unacceptable to the club as we know that for Conference league a minimum of a 10 year lease is required with a minimum of 20 years for football league status. This is a complete reversal of previously negotiated lease terms where MFC were offered 125 years with the developers offered 25/50 years.

Who in their right mind would invest in any football club with these restrictions.

I honestly believe that TDC do have an alternative agends and it would not surprise me if someone well known to the supporters also has had a hand in this fiasco.

No doubt the club will clarify their position today.
