I'm very surprised, given that you're a huge Mode fan, that The Beast Inside is your least favourite of the Inspirals' albums.

 

It's definitely my favourite by a long way, and to my ears, the most DM-like of their albums.

I think their first album is by far and away their best. In my opinion there isn't much to choose between the other three. They've all good three or four well good tracks on and then a few weaker ones. Maybe I'm being harsh on the Beast Inside, but I still think the other two slightly shade it.

 

Which DM album(s) does it remind you of ?

Well, I don't know any DM albums throughout, but it reminds me of some of their more atmospheric singles from the latter 80s.

 

I do like the first Inspirals album, and I reckon it's their second best one after The Beast Inside, but it's a bit too 'poppy-bouncy-bouncy' sometimes! Saying that, songs like Directing Traffic, She Comes In The Fall and Sackville are legendary!!

 

Devil Hopping is just rubbish and Saturn 5 is about their worst ever single. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
