Television Question

Does anyone here know of any decent Skateboarding, Video Games & Clubbing Music stations, preferably airing within the next 6-8 weeks?

 

My brother-in-law is 15, as is well into all the above and thinks the nation is crying out for such a channel. Ideally, he says, he'd like the channel to be fronted by a slightly-balding communist in his early-30s.

 

Apparently, bright orange, dirty-at-the-sleeves zip-up jackets, and shiny blue trousers are well 'in' in sk8er-boi chic.

I know your brother in law is only 15, and this station is aimed at 16-30 year olds, but could this station - BPM-TV be of some interest ?

 

BPM TV is a new TV station which launches a digital TV channel this autumn. BPM-TV will be available to more than 6.4 million homes across the UK.

 

BPM-TV broadcasts a range of programming aimed at our target audience of 16-30 year olds. Primarily the channel content is focused on the club music scene, with programming in areas of crossover interest, such as extreme sports, video gaming, technology and travel.

 

To attract viewers, BPM TV broadcasts original and informative programmes detailing all aspects of the clubbing, extreme sports and video gaming industries. BPM TV will also exclusively broadcast many live events.

I've done a bit of further research, and it would appear that BPM-TV has been around for a while now, but the launch date has been continually put back. A spokesman for the station says:

 

"The official release date is now within the next six to eight weeks."

 

Apparently the main presenter is in his 30's and is very well educated in most extreme sports and video gaming industries.

A look at his profile would reveal he does lean towards communism. He is a big labour supporter and openly reveals how much he hates big global corporations such as McDonalds and would never be found buying their products.

My brother-in-law would just like to point out to the television company that sk8ters these days are no longer interested in the sort of music this station is show-casing, and prefer to do their wheelies and double-back-flips (??) to the early-90s indie sounds of Inspiral Carpets and Carter (Unstoppable Sex Machine).

 

Would this be compromising the station's principles??

The good news is that the blurb on the site is slightly out of date. BPM are aware of the changing music tastes of the extreme sporters and sk8ers. The main music focus will indeed shift to early 90's indie bands, along with show casing some of the latest new talent around such as Art Brut and Yer Maw, which are two of the main presenters favourite bands of the moment. He did in fact introduce a lot of his mates to Art Brut a few weeks back. (This shift in music policy may well be one of the reasons behind the decision to delay the launch.)

 

Off the record, I've heard that the station will air with a quick documentary about extreme sk8ers followed by the new acoustic song from Jimbob. Make sure your brother in law tunes in.
