Nationwide South - Hornchurch 1 Bognor Regis T 1

Urchins

Recommended Posts

First game which I have seen which has been close, I thought that the ref had a poor game and made some strange decisions, first half goal looked goal from where we were. Both sides had some good chances. Ashley Bayes had some good stops, but nothing to difficult.

Then when it looked like a nil - nil, the rocks nicked a soft goal. Their fans were jubilent and I could understand why. heads remained and we applied the presure and in the dying seconds an excellant equaliser, and a realistic 1-1.

Thought Clarkie looked out of place and was affected by the early start.

Yeah Clarkie was right off the pace, Caskey was on his back throughtout the game, don't think Jacko was usual self either. Bognor made things difficult in midfield, set on crowding Caskey out which in the main worked, aside from his assist for the goal. Bognor def. the best side played at Bridge this season (Chins aside of course!)

Diggs, was we watching the same game mate. We were played of the park fella and to be honest were fcking lucky to get a draw, but that's football. The boy's were not at the races yesterday, but we can't expect 6-0 wins every week can we!!!

By the way loved the comment about clarkie!!! PMSL..

I agree with you Bridgey, I thought we were played off the park on Saturday. We just didn't seem that interested at all and full credit to Bognor who in my eyes should be pushing for a top 4 finish.

My main gripe has to be Clarkie. He is such a frustrating player to watch. He has shown us a few glimpses of his pace and crossing ability in games but not enough for my liking. I don't think he links up well with Searley either as you can see Cask shouting at him most of the time to lend some support to our left back.

To be honest, I would have Worms on the right hand side of midfield (by the way is he injured?) and Besty on the left flank. I just think that Worms has tremendous crossing ability and it has proved that when he has been in the team he creates havoc in the oppos defence with his crossing.

Does anyone share in my thoughts?

ps Andy 'the legend' Thomson you are priceless.

Think you're right there, as fans we have to take some responsibility for the poor performance. Yes it was an early kick-off, and yes most of us had a heavy night friday, but during the 1st half, the eastside resembled the highbury library!

Bognor came for a point and were unlucky not to get all 3. What did piss me off was the amount of time they spent on the deck trying to waste time.

Re their onanist of a manager. Nothing to do with the ref, the bald lino in the first half should have told him where to go straight away. Lino in the 2nd half did, but too late by then. I think we should ban him from the Avely Airlines Stadium for all time (not that we're ever going to play Bognor again.)

In spite of the fact we didn't win, Saturday was one of my favourite games at the Urchins!! From the geezer on there bench tapping his hands to their manager invading the running track to a whole load of abuse!! The noise aimed at him was deafening. He's probably not been subjected to anything like that before Then again, what does he expect coming to a pikey Essex town

Bridge

oh contrear (Del Boy voice)

Glad to see there are still some people out and about with thoughts of their own, the forum has gone quiet over the past few months.

I will agree to disagree I do not think we were played off the park, contained yes. I agree with dear Stu about our lack of width and loss of Simon Wormull. Still think the draw was a fair result. Should be an interesting return in February.

Can we have names on the backs of the shirts as I'm still having difficulty remembering who's who!

Though I wasn't there on Saturday there are two players who have a tendancy to lose the ball a litle too often: the brown haired lean left winger/midfielder (whatever the position is) who generally wears no.11 and the bleach-blonde haired fella who used to wear white boots (plays on the right as far as I remember). Both have shown fantastic pace and skill but also a general lack of keeping the ball.

Save trawling through the previous threads re the Harwich match (nice ground I thought), has it been asked why we didn't go for an all out attack to warn any coming opposition? I know Harwich were a few leagues below us but I felt it was a chance to show all watching that we meant business. Two thumbs to Mr Hill though, it was good to see our first team out there.

AFAIK you can only have names in the Conference National - what it would be nice is to have numbers on the shorts - several clubs already do - it would be nice for all clubs to follow suit.

If you want to learn the players names - have a look at the photo gallery http://www.hornchurchfc.com/multimedia/photos.shtml

I think I have named the majority of the players
