First time I have see the Gate this season today.because of work commitments etc but I have freinds in Ashford and an early KO suited me.I was very surprised and impressed, without going into to much detail I did not know who half the team were, but the performance and the effort put into it by the players I thought was good . I wouldnt dream of trying to tell all you regulars what you already knowbut what CK is doing reminds me very much of years ago when he started from scratch with us (forgetting for now the off field problems)assembled a squad of players quite a few comings and goings modest results (just tucking in there nicely) a few reversals,A few players we all thought were useless (remember Phil Collins when he first came to us).But gradually an excellent squad developed. The rest is history.I can honestly see the start of it all over again. Also I think given the circumstances the attendance today was really not to bad. WELL DONE CK and EVERYBODY PS Only down side I think Rocky needs geeing up, but as I said before you regulars know more of what is going on than me .So there might be underlying reasons for his to say the least lethargic display

Not there today, but with Rocky is that we built him up at end of last season to be some kind of demi-god; and in fact he is human afterall;and remains a very good player, but is not a one man world beater;and like the rest has better games and poorer games.

Could it be the case that overall, for a striker, his performances are well above averge, and maybe we should lower our expectations from him slightly.

His style is languid, but that is not <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/rockon.gif" alt="" /> lethargic-did not see today, but seen him languid in last 2 games, and he was as good if not better than most.

Quite right, michaelmichael, and we have had this argument before with others on this forum.

Rocky is a thinking player, and he does not expend his energies running about unnecessarily. If he feels a ball is not winnable or he cannot do anything with it he will not waste his time. He also favours his right foot, and prefers not to take balls on his left foot, so if the ball is not falling right he is not a chancer.

However, he sets others up with superbly placed passes, gets back and defends when necessary, wears defences down by constantly outplaying and confounding them, and puts balls in nets with an elegance and beauty that takes my breath away, without taking anything away from our other excellent goal scorers. His languid style is to me one of his chief attractions.

He was everywhere again on the pitch today, his standard of fitness must be quite astounding.

His level-headedness and experience is very valuable to the newer and less experienced players, helping them to play better. What he sometimes lacks is quality service feeding him the right stuff to score.

I am one of his biggest fans, yes, and I feel we are privileged to have him play with us.

Fair comments.I.certainly apologise if my earlier comments about Rocky are unfair.I did not mean to be unkind to him. As I said earlier today was my first viewing of the Gate this season and I would not wish to contradict any opinions you have about players , you have watched them more than me.I accept I am obviously wrong in my opinion of Rocky and will certainly cheer him on ,because I am really going to try and get to more matches at Ashford.

Far from it Impressed. No aplogies required

Great to have another view/opinion.

Thought your comments were very interesting ,and we possibly latched on to the Rocky thing a bit to much, since you also made many other equally interesting comments ,and its strange that your observations about building a new squad ,and it starting to gel, coincide with a few recent comments made by he 'regulars'
