Margate vs. Newport

Firefly

Disappointed but will try and find positives-more experience for Charamb., Gradley and Benevides.

Possibly Watson on the horizon.

Managed a point without Oates.

Hopefully everyone will be even more determined to get the win next saturday

Yep it was him the real one but he never got on. Had he been fit, he woould have skinned the useless Newport defenders cos they were the worst side i have seen at Ash this season. We should have slaughtered them. They were pants in defence and omly had a few chances themselves, They were under the cosh for most of the game. Rocky very poor today but che looked sharp and peter is a real revalation. His goal mag. aqnd he nearly scored another. We were totally in control of midfield it was embarrasing a t times. How we did not win i'll never know. Billy hamstring could be two weeks. JK booked but played well. Trego one or two excellent saves. The players wewre all patting him on the back at the end cos ne save was outstanding. That final touch eluded us and Freeston only had one real quality save to make. Disappointing but still we seem to improve in most areas. Folkeston drew 2-2 with Braintree.

It definitely was Watson, he was away on trial at Grimsby. Delighted to see him again, also a big fan. Clarkey has a back strain, saw him in the bar with Oates.

We played very well today, but gave away a silly pen, although looking at it, I don't think Bill could have done much to avoid the clash that led to it. Up to that point he had defended in his usual efficient way, plus he was substituted so I hope he is not injured.

Gradely gets better with every game. Very solid in midfield and has an eye for the strategic pass which augers well for the future. Benvenides played out of his skin, his goal was brilliant, he went round three defenders and was definitely not going to let anything get between him and a goal. We had much more of the game than Newport and came close on numerous occasions, indeed we should have clinched it. Not to take anything from Newport they were a fairly useful side. Brought a few noisy supporters too, well done to them for travelling the distance. The quality of the refereeing was much better today as well and the game flowed, and was pretty good to watch.

We are improving defensively but will miss Beckwith, who gave a good account of himself today. Trego continues to impress and looked very safe, I also like his distribution. It was good to see Moses get another run out and again he looked sharp, but I feel he could do more given more time on the pitch, as indeed he showed us last week.

Annon was his at his usual best, has played excellently every game I have seen him in, JK also strong in midfield, although got a yellow and I thought he was getting close to a red mist moment at times. Barnett pretty solid in defence and cleared a nasty one off the line. Charalambous ran around like a dervish, I don't think the opposition ever know what to do with him as he is so awkward as well as quick.

Rocky and Che were their usual selves although they missed the quality of the Oates and Clarke crosses to set them up. Rocky shot wide, cannot remember if once or twice and Che came close with his head.

Overall we lost two points apart from gaining one, which was disappointing considering the quality of play.

From the reports, i'm relatively encouraged.

A bit early to be thinking this way, but if we can keep aroung mid-table this season, do you get the feeling CK is slowly assembling a decent side who in 10 months timw will have enogh experience to take this league apart next season.

It was dedinately in Ashford. A good performance overall in my opinion, result let us down. Benevides was certainly my Man of the Match. Our two strikers weren't at their best, couple of times in the second half, Rocky could have been through but couldn't find his feet. Could have been worse, Billy lucky not to get a red card for the tackle that led to the penalty (not really his fault as he was having to deal with a misplaced header from Beckwith, I think), JK was perhaps fortunate not to get a 2nd yellow for a late niggly challenge in the 2nd half. Newport players by far the foulest mouthed team I've heard for a while. And yes the ref was pretty decent on recent form!

BBC told me that Beckwith played, not Clarke

On a sidenote, it's good to hear that Watson is back. It was a bit surreal this afternoon hearing he was on the subs bench. I had to double check <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/trippy.gif" alt="" />
