Zeal called me with another classic quote on Friday from the program but I've forgotten it.

It was so good it was about to become my new signature, I think it may of been something along the lines of we've been on top in most if not all our games this season.

I think that the quote you are looking for from Friday evening's programme EFMTFTV is "We've had the upper hand in most, if not virtually all, our games this season..".

 

Four quick points to bear in mind before you are overly critical, however:

 

a). I believe that the manager doesn't actually write that stuff, usually. It's the chap who gets £50,000 a year for taking the teamsheet from the manager to the referee 1 hour before kick-off.

 

I suspect that when he speaks, SC says "In the second half, we etc. etc." However the chap what actually wries the page changes that to "Second half, we etc. etc." in an effort to give it authenticity. It's a football thing, I believe.

 

. It might not even be down to that chap. The Chairman's page in the matchday programme on Friday was re-titled "Welcome Thurrock" and was the usual two columns but this week, it was largely a welcome to our visitors. Now here's a funny thing. It was signed by Buzz Lightyear himself, Lee Harding!

 

It wasn't made clear whether he has tired of the strain of the Chairman's mantle at Braintree and has returned to t'Park to write welcome pages in the matchday programme on a permanent basis, or whether he is moonlighting, or whether it will become a regular feature for other Chairmen of Non League football clubs to write that page in our matchday programme or whether it was some kind of joke or what. I will check at the next home game before handing over my £2.

 

The manager's page was simply signed 'Steve' but that could mean anything. Perhaps the entire programme was taken over by insurgents.

 

c). A former manager of this football club once told me that every team that you play against will play at least 10 minutes of good football in the 90. It's how you deal with that 10 minutes that is important.

 

d). If you look at the last 20 minutes of Friday evening's game, I felt that "we had the upper hand" for that period of play. Unfortunately, we were 3-0 down at the time and Thurrock had taken their collective foot off the gas.

What's happened to Park Life? Another page missing! I see we are persisting with the "What's you favourite food? Chicken!" page too. The programme is fast becoming as bad as the rest of the place.
