I feel that rather than three up front sven should consider three at the back (terry,rio,sol man) neville right wing back ashley cole left wing back. Butt sitting in the midfield with beckham and lamps ahead of him. Owen & rooney or defoe upfront.??

We seem a bit light on defensive midfielders to me. Becks and Lampard can hardly be desribed as the best tacklers in the world. Who else is there apart from Nicky Butt?

Y would such a good central defender be playing there?

Plus even if rio is an overpriced donkey then that would make ledley a non-priced badger because he is more valuable and far better than ledley.

As for Terry i think other than sol campbell he was the best defender in the premiership last year and has been this year.

mine straw poll was conducted thru the various sports dept.'s ive visted this week and not one sperz fan in sight, plenty of chelsea/west ham /arsenal tho'

 

as for who gets the credit for Defoe, surely he does? quality will always come thru no matter who u play for

Well quality may shine whatever the team but your only as good as your worst player thats my view. The better the club the better the player can become.

E.G Rooney going to united hat-trick on debut, he'll score more goals than he ever would have at everton.

If defoe has a few more good games especially for england! he'll want to leave spurs for a bigger club in january.

i still disagree on ledley. a good player dnt get me wrong, but not a great player!

blaze: what i've always liked about st albans city fans is they know what they're talking about when it comes to football. you can have a rational debate without childish comments like "my team is better than your team".

Campbell is well over rated and should stick to going out shopping with his mate Freddie. He's also getting on a bit now.

 

I saw Ledley first hand the other week and he was very good indeed. Internationally he came in against France and did an excellent job.

 

I think him and Ferdinand (might be overpriced but he's not a donkey) should be first choice with Terry in reserve.

Valuable point Gertcha however campbell is 1st choice in my book all day. i hate to admit it.

Against france i feel they attacked our goal so many times it was easy to look good as a defender hoofing the ball 50 yards everytime.

King should definitely start, but before the anti-Spurs brigade start, I still believe that Owen and Rooney should be picked ahead of Defoe.
