FA Cup Q3

Just found this off thefa.com:

Lee Farrell lived every schoolboy's dream when he scored the winning goal in an FA Cup tie.

The strike put his side, East Preston, into The FA Cup Second Qualifying Round against Uxbridge on Saturday, the furthest they have ever been in the competition.

Yet, what makes this story even more remarkable is that the 21-year-old forward was born completely deaf.

CardiffBTFC... bring your hat!

Anyway lads look forward to seeing you Saturday week ... EP is about 5 miles west of Worthing on the coast.

Forget our league form this season, we haven't had a good run at league games really, we finished 3rd (although joint runners up) of the County League last season (so's yer know).

Lee Farrell represent the GB Deaf Squad and is off to Australia at the end of the year for the Deaflympics.

Anyway it's all on the web site.

How many supporters can we expect here? Any idea?

we are a nice friendly team all good friends who have played together for yrs 5 or 6 of the team repersented sussex last yr and 1 played for the navy we have ( Chris Hibberd worthing player of the yr a couple of yrs ago si clayton who also plays for Bognor Town Lee the deaf gb player and matt huckett who i think is possibly our best player) So dont write us off to quickly in the last round the other side came along thinking they would beat us easily which didnt pay off for them. We have poor form in the league at the moment but we have played less games due to us being the only side left in the fa cup.

I'd reckon around 200. What's you're average league gate?

Our average gate is a lot less then that ... assuming that information is correct thanks for letting me know, we can start looking to cater for 200.

i suppose that if we had to be drawn away (yet again) this is the best we could have hoped for. having said that i am sure they will make it hard for us and justin will have to ensure that the lads are in the right frame of mind to progress.

lets not forget the two league games first tho..this season it's points that must make prizes for us....with the cup being a brucie bonus.

in terms of the travelling support i reckon most would agree we had half of the 302 at dorking, so lets hope we can top that at east preston.

Since the reformation of East Preston Football Club, the ground has undergone massive changes. Originally, and until the late 80's to early 90's 'The Lashmar' was no more then a recreation ground with no enclosure on three sides and a high fence between it and the houses in Clarence Drive. That remains much the same and would be the only recognisable part of what used to be the open playing field.

Three sides are now enclosed by large hedges. The dugouts on the Clarence Drive side were moved from their original position, opposite where they now reside. The biggest change for the local residents would be the floodlights towering above the skyline. These were installed some 5 years ago, to bring the club up to Sussex County League Division One standard.

For the spectators the covered area extends from just right of the ground entrance and up and around the corner flag for about 20 yards. The recently added small covered seating area being the latest aquisition. The perimeter also has concrete flooring.

There is a kids play area just outside the ground, and ample free parking for some 50 plus cars. The recreation ground is surrounded on two sides by Roundstone Drive (behind the north goal) and Lashmar Road to the east. The grounds' address falls under the Lashmar Road cloak hence the name 'The Lashmar'.

The current clubhouse was extended to, and completely overhauled in the mid to late 90's and is a very impressive establishment. It has been remarked upon on many an occasion as one of the best clubhouses in Sussex football.

With facilities such as two pool tables, 5 dartboards, a stage area, big screen tv (offering all live Sky football matches), a large bar area, ample sitting space, regular functions and very much more, it is easy too see why it has such a good reputation.

I know we wanted a home draw but one of the things I like about the FA cup and trophy is getting to visit grounds that we wouldn't ordinarily go to... A nice day on the booze on the south coast beckons I reckon, would have thought we'll try and run another coach and let's hope the sun shines as doesn't look like there's much cover!
