Monthly Donations

Interesting to read over on the Maidenhead forum that they are currently managing to put up £500 a month (at present) to help the clubs wage bill. Perhaps more interesting to note that we can only muster £55 a month for the trust. Doesn't exactly auger well and I wonder if anyone knows why this would be?

I wonder how many people are donating the £500 at Maidenhead, is it a lot of small donations or a few big ones?

The Trust has received donations - there were some showing in the last accounts. I think there may be some confusion over what is wanted as the request for subs payments asked people for a basic amount and then said that if people could give an additional amount as a donation it would be welcome, but did not say that this was on a monthly basis.

If you look at all the different ways that cash is being raised, I am not surprised that there is a problem - as well as the inevitable of entrance and programme, we have golden goal, player sponsorship, match ball, match sponsorship, goals scored, sponsored walk as well as race night and other things - I am not surprised that people find it confusing as well as not knowing where they can contribute to best effect.

Not everybody who comes along to matches is rolling in cash and by the time they have paid entrance, programme, golden goal, and bought a burger and a drink, may not feel they can afford large monthly donations on top of Trust subs. Obviously the Trust does better from covenanted donations because of the tax, but perhaps the old bucket for loose change like we had for the ground scheme at WP might raise some extra cash and be more affordable for people who are stretched and being informal, not needing forms, make it easier to contribute, without feeling forced to do so. If only a third of our regular crowd contributed a quid, we would be well on the way to the £500 a month.

Little and often may be an answer!

Also you have to remember a fair few regulars chip in a fiver each home game to the Barmy Army pot which is then used on sponsorship etc.

I'm sure Gary (or someone else) will be able to say more but I think that there's been a problem at the suppliers of the shirts, hence no shirts. But I think the notice on the door of the STST 'shed' said that they'll be available soon. I think.

The shirts will be in stock (so we're told) for the Cheshunt game on the 16th. The suppliers, MG Sportswear, have had numerous problems in getting the order through to us, and comparing an order of 36 (Slough) to 1700 (Exeter), which would you do first?
