Another poor game. Apart from the first 10 minutes or so in the first half, we simply did not create any chances. No chances to score - no score. Bit worrying our last 2 games have seen us draw blanks.

Thame were nothing special - in fact I thought Harlow Town (another Step 4 team) were much better. Again goes to show that the top 4 teams in the ESL could hold their own at that level.

Second half was particularly disappointing - only the one header from Asa that forced the keeper into a good save.

But it was fun while it lasted, and the prize money will come in useful.

I completely agree with Andy ETFC's earlier comments re abuse of the officials. Having said that, the highlight of the match for me was watching Andy D lambast the lino in the 2nd half after 3 truly awful decisions! I guess it's all about getting the balance right between "airing our own views", and being abusive. And Andy D got it right.

Weymouth's average gate is 1,201. Would have been a great day out with a bumper crowd. Like SL said, there's always next year. You never know though, The Vase may give us some glory yet this season.

i was at the game yesterday and from what i see enfield looked quality in the first 20 but after that never really threatened.

tame was not much better but did edge it in the end and had a few more clear cut chances and probably deserved to win just!

one other thing i noticed was the no. 12 coming on acting like a baby every time he had a decision go against him and trying to get a player sent off. no-one likes to see that!!

The Thame No3 blatently elbowed Towns No12 in the face,as a free kick was about to taken. In a seperate incident Thame's No5 kicked him whilst he was on the floor.

Dot com,are you saying that you wonldn't have gone down after a elbow to the face. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" />

Asa Pamplin added a definite bite to Enfield Town's second half play and they needed it - if that meant a bit of scary play now and again - surely that's all part of the show. His positive style of play was probably why our scribe with the bread pudding thought that there was always a chance of a draw ... until the Ref's whistle put a stop to all the hopes and aspirations of Town, Asa was champion .. such a shame his colleagues didn't all shine in the same way on the day .. to top it all, I wonder if we would have been at Weymouth as it looks like a regionalised draw and Thame, of course, are over that part of the country - maybe we would have come out of the hat just ahead of Hendon ?

Let's face it: Thame made the most of their limited abilities on the pitch and we failed to display ours. Once the goal went in it was a case of the visitors shutting up shop and slowing the game down to their pace. Any good side would have found a way aroung this style of play and sadly, we did not seem to have any ideas on the day.

But all is not lost. We still have the F.A.Vase and the league to aim at. Sometimes, I wonder if our large crowds go against us and really inspire our opponents. You only had to see their keeper confronting a lad (who had been winding him up all afternoon) in the tunnel after the game. Our supporters are great when it comes to getting behind the team and making a noise, but this goes against us when the result is less than positive and that's when our opponents get a boost.

Finally, whilst I agree that the tunnel antics by some of our supporters were out of order, I wouldn't ever want to see an end to the likes of that fantastic episode near the corner flag when one of our supporters told the lino exactly what he thought. We were behind the goal and wishing that was us letting off steam for everyone. For that man I say a big THANK YOU.

Of course it's nice to have the Abbey players visiting the brimmobeu. Pinnacle, maybe you could save some cash by buying a season ticket!

on the your large crowd inspires other teams to play better against you front, YES it does. 100% certain it gets more out of people. That is fact and surely you can see why, its nice to play in front of a large crowd, a good atmosphere loads of noise etc etc and even better to beat them. so the answer is yes but also look at it this way. if i were to have all those people cheering me on all the time it would have the same effect.
