Enfield Town 0 Thame 1

5 mins in I thought this’d be a stroll. Town were spreading the ball well and some dangerous crosses saw brad brotherton have an effort cleared off the line and other good chances. It seemed like it was only a matter of time. For some reason Town just failed to produce the goods after the first few minutes. Thame were a solid side, but nothing to write home about. It was disappointing that all we could muster were a few half-chances with balls squared from the by-line. As you’d expect Thame had chances to kill the game off in the dying minutes as Town pushed forward in search of an equaliser.

Didn’t think the ref had too bad a game (some dodgy decisions either way but nothing that looked downright wrong from where I was standing). The lino did give a couple of incorrect offside decisions, but it wasn’t the officials who lost the game today – Town just didn’t play as well as they can.

Anyway, the cups are only the icing on the cake – let’s concentrate on the league!

Crowd 317

Hall, Campbell, Negus, Gant, Hall, Brotherton, Hall, Smith, Riley, Nyman, Pamplin, Wright, Ridout,Kitenge, Francis

A bad day at the office. We lost the battle of the midfield and they then contained us in our own half most of the match. Strikers seemed devoid of sensible ideas on the odd occasion that the ball got through to them. we rarely tested their Keeeper. I still think Brotherton was not fit and Rudi Hall had an interesting battle with a 7ft 2 midget. Little and large or what.

Thame didn't deserve to win it but we did deserve to lose it on our strategic plan alone. They appeared more hungry for it and we looked like we weren't up for it. Let's hope we sort things before Tuesday.

Ending on a positive note our defence was excellent even though we lost 1 - 0. Hall, Campbell and Negus made some good track backs and recovery.

Good to see we have a Reserve Keeper as well.

Normaly nobody stands behind my goal i can tell my self of as and when but i know that a few of our supporters were at my end including southport towner & other families so please accept my apology.

What do you think some of us were talking about after the game today? The result? The after match drink in the bar? The weather? No! It was how best we can utilise some corrugated sheets to enclose the tunnel area. Why you may ask?

During the summer recess, Dave F and a loyal band of helpers put up the tunnel as requested by the rules of various competitions. It looks good and serves to keep fans, officials and players apart before the game, at half time and at the end.

What we have is the best tunnel available to us, especially as it is in the corner of the ground.

What we in fact saw and heard today was some so called supporters verbally abusing the officials because in their eyes they made some mistakes! It does nothing for the club. In fact, it gives us a bad name.

We have come a long way in three years and there is still a long way to go. However, having to find the time and money to clad the tunnel will stop us from carrying out other more pressing work. And, as usual, it will be the same few doing all the work.

I can understand it when supporters do get annoyed about decisions that do not go their way, but some supporters should really think about what harm to the club they may be doing at the end of the match.

This is not a club statement - it's mine and I know many people will probably think I should not be making such comments. However, as we have the right to free speech, then I will continue to put comments on here.

I know someone will probably say that if I have a right to free speech, then what's wrong with verbally abusing the officials? If some people are of that opinion, then we may as well close the ground and throw away the key.

Andy - I don't think it was that bad; a couple of kids i.e. under 16's were a bit lippy and were very quickly silenced by the other supporters.

No harm in booing opposition and poor officlas off the field; and it was no more than that.

One of the worst wind up merchants is the Mad Man on the Mike; one of yo directors should have a word about him inciting the crowd with his comments!!!

gonzo like you i thought you would win about 5-0 after the 1st 20 mins! you were all over them, 2 off the line i remember.

i also thought tame were not that great. unfortunately i disagree with compo i think that after you stopped playing then thame did deserve to win. they missed at least two 1 on 1s and and the bloke who blazed over from 6 yards.

i do think that you are a better side than them but one of them days.

on another note have you seen sudburys record!! p 8 w 8 f 40 a 2!!!!

Correction: Chopper saved at least two 1 on 1s!

This just gives the lads more time to concentrate on sorting out that team keeping our spot at the top of the table warm. Watch out Abbey, Town's coming to get ya!

You know who this is because I know the result went belly up as sometimes does against Step 4 opposition with 7ft players but put it behind you and carry on the good work because everything else was absolutely top notch, a lovely welcome from good people - especially the ladies committee !A pleasant seat in the stand, believe it or not, an enjoyable game to watch with a replay always a possibility and ... this gives the game away , I have just sat in front of a lovely warm fire and guzzled the most delicious bread pudding in the world. Thanks Enfield Town !!!

Biggest FA Cup crowd of the day was at the Brimmobeu. Even beat Wealdstone's attendance.

Thanks to all those who braved the conditions.

I am well aware that the best place for the supporters today was under cover, but no one stood in front of the seated accommodation today and spoilt anyone's view. It's amazing what four red cones and some yellow paint can do!

Hi Andy.

IF some people did go a bit over the top in their comments towards the ref,WHY advertise the fact on this forum.Surely that in itself gives the club a 'bad name'.

The fact is, that having a go at officials IS part of the game,at ALL levels .

Yes. foul language is unnecessary. As is threatening behavior [luckily that doesn't happen at the Town].

BUT every fan has the right to tell the officials and opposing players (if necessary) ,what they think of them ..if they have been poor.

Moderate the language yes,but never moderate the passion.

Here, here. Fans have a right to critisize the ref and linos (and that does not mean bad language and I didn't hear any). My anoyance at the ref was the way in which he allowed Thame to time waste hence spoiling the flow of the game. Their keeper was wasting time after ten minutes of the second half. I sincerely hope that they get a bl**dy good thrashing in the next round. they do not deserve to be in the hat today.

i was at the game yesterday and from what i see enfield looked quality in the first 20 but after that never really threatened.

tame was not much better but did edge it in the end and had a few more clear cut chances and probably deserved to win just!

one other thing i noticed was the no. 12 coming on acting like a baby every time he had a decision go against him and trying to get a player sent off. no-one likes to see that!!
