SYCOB programme

Although I thought we were, overall the better side yesterday, I think our club is still very one dimensional in view of how Beaconsfield SYCOB are going about things.

When you look are how far they have come in 3-4 years, and how far we have gone, there's a huge gap - especially the number of quality young players coming through. We have very few, as they seem to have loads? How come? The likes of Carrol and Scott won't be playing for us for ever.

Also, Beaconsfield's matchday programme yesterday put ours to relative shame, based on its writen content and over profesionalism of it. Wouldn't we be better sourcing some of our expenditure to things like that? Things that generally help to market the club when people aren't on the premises?

I'm not trying to detract what we achieved (result-wise) on the day, but it was certainly an eye-opener playing Beaconsfield yesterday.

I agree with the what you say. How many youth teams in Windsor are there? 5 or 6 with each with around 8 age groups. I'm not sure but my brother playes for Windsor and Eton Youth i'm not sure if they are connected with the club. Perhaps Mal can tell us?

Firstly, Beaconsfield have a very good youth set-up. We are currently setting up youth teams and over the next couple of seasons will grow to provide the first / reserve teams with players.

As for Windsor & Eton Youth, they are one of the clubs, I think, that we will be 'taking under our wing' to be part of Windsor & Eton FC. These things take time. They have been done before but they were not run properley and therefore failed. This time we want to make sure the we do things right.

As for the programme, I would love to be able to produce one like Beaconsfield did week in week out. The problem is I have to work to a budget and at the moment that budget is limited. Once we have the new covers and advertising it will look a better programe and hopefully we can start uping the quality of the programme.

All I will say is that if anyone knows where we can get a 24 page full colour programmme printed for no more the £1, then please let me know.

Like you rightly say, you can only work to a budget, and finance always dictates <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />what it is that you can and can't do.

However, did you read who designed/wrote the Beaconsfield programme? It's a guy called Andy Fitzsimmons (or it is Fitzsimons), he's regarded as one of the best PR guys around in non-league football.

I mean how many grounds have we been to where our manager has undertaken an interview for the opposition programme?

It many ways, it's unsurprising that Beaconsfield produced what they did. Although, coming back to your original point, I'm sure a 40-page programme like that cost more than a £1 to produce, so I have no idea have the club afforded it - unless it was through sponsorship etc.

Anyway, programmes don't win you matches!
