when i was down the ground on friday i heard someone talking about a new canvey island fc website, does anyone know anything about it, i was going to ask merv but i think he is on holiday, does ian know anything about it i wonder.

Yevnac, you may have seen the new hoardings around the dugouts advertising www.canveyislandfc.com. This is the address for the Club's new OFFICIAL website.

 

www.canveyfc.com is the un-official site, (despite what some other sites say) that Ian, Merv & myself run.

 

The new official site is apprently going to be updated daily with comments and news from the Management about goings on down the Club involving transfers, fixtures etc. (much like the Gulls Line is now). However they will not be having their own message board. Probably cause they feel this one is suitable enough already. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Hi,

 

All I know is that the club is launching an official site - although we have not been officially informed of the URL - the boards at the ground said http://www.canveyislandfc.com as the URL.

 

However I understand that the official site will be updated daily with the latest club news, results, fixtures, signings etc.

 

Our own site http://www.canveyfc.com is an un-official site, and we have always tried to work closely with the club over the 5 years that the site has been running.

 

We hope that over that time we have served the club and the fans well - we know how many hours of work it takes every week, to keep the site current - and quite often we will still be updating at 10 or 11pm on a Saturday night - our partners have got used to crossing Saturday night out of the schedules

 

We have never claimed to be official, but have often been quoted as being official - having been aware of that, if the club made a request for us to embargo news, then we honoured that, knowing that any slip on our part could be reflected on club.

 

I have spoken with Merv, and both he and I along with Matt wish the club all the best for their new venture - we hope that it will suceed and give the fans an excellent resource to keep up to date daily with their favourite football club.

 

At the moment the site has a holding page, but as soon as it launches, we will let the you know.

 

We are here to support the club - and will activly support the club in the months and years ahead.

I honestly can't answer that one, however we will continue to support the club in anyway that we can - and we hope that the club will still allow us to take photographs, promote and report on the club via websites, and newspapers who are willing to publish the photographs.

seems a rather silly duplication of effort..

maybe they realise they cant control yourself and your freewheeling loose cannon reporter merv... we already know matts a lost cause when it comes to following the corporate line

Whatever the reason Canv - we will continue to support the club in whatever way we can.
