I notice that warhorse Bret Angel has been released by his latest club

if we were looking for real power in the air this man could supply very genuine talent in that department and allow an improved mixture in the attack

Unfortunately Pabird, I have a feeling Southend might want to bring back their former legend to recapture past glories. The lure of playing for a football league club could be too great but I agree Angell is a quality striker who would be a great signing for Canvey and would give us extra firepower in attack.

I still say that a Player we should get is Roland Edge who was released by Gillingham a few weeks ago. He'll definately have the left side sured up better than anyone.

Ronin, depspite what many may have heard, Ty Gooden is not the sort of player we need. No offence to the bloke, but he's nearly 30 and has spent the last couple of seasons either on the treatment table or in the Gills Reserves.

 

Gooden I believe was kept out of the team by Edge as they do both play down the same side. Although Edge is apparently more defensive minded than Gooden.

 

A Bods character would be great and I think Gavin Cowan is the next best thing. It'll be great to see him have a full, injury free season next term.

WHY SIGN EDGE HE WOULD ONLY BE COMPETING AGAINST DUFFY AND I THINK THERE WOULD ONLY BE ONE WINNER THERE NO OFFENCE TO THE LEAGUE MAN AND PLUS HE WOULD PROBABLY JUST BE ANOTHE DAVID GREGORY

Both the Gregorys have that lazy streak in them, remember when Neil first came to us on loan at Carshalton? Not all ex-League players are like the Gregorys: Boylan, Minton, JK, Potter, Crow all give 100% when they play and that bit extra. Plus Duffy had the worst season I've seen last term.

 

I know Jeff has his favourites and Duffy is a major contender, but if Duffy got injured is their really suitable cover on the left hand side now Spencer Knight has departed? Parmenter yes, but Forbes? Jones? Brayley?

 

Edge's wages are probably demanding and we couldn't afford him anyway! I'd also like to apologise to Ty Gooden for stating he was nearly 30, sorry he is 30!

To be honest I thought Duffy was worse the season we won the Trophy although admittedly he had a lot of injuries that season.

Duffers hasn't really recaptured the form from his first season with us (1999/2000) when he was quite excellent (remember that goal against Daggers)

We don't want another Striker FOOTBALLNUT. We have 4 as it is! Boylan, Brayley, Berquez & N. Gregory......Martin Carruthers is a lazy sod now!

 

It's been said time and time again what we need is young pacy full-back to add speed in the back-line and a left-sided version of JK.

 

As for the Slough game - No-one played any good in that game! It was almost as bad as Yeading, only difference being we actually scored against Slough!!!
