JOHN LENNON ROCK N ROLL

Yeah, seen that it was set for a re-release. Not one of his better efforts, in my opinion, as covers albums rarely are.

Walls & Bridges surely his best solo work, though the Plastic Ono Band runs it close. I don't own Sometime In New York City actually - it's on my Christmas list, but £25 for a double-CD which I've never read a decent review of seems a little on the expensive side.

I believe "Sometime" is due the same remastering but EMI are dragging their feet...again. George's EMI out put was due a re mastering and re release this year and they put that lot on hold...Something to do with getting a certain Robbie Williams and others priority releases. Bah and humbug if you ask me.

Actually, I read somewhere that George's stuff has been re mastered as he sat down with EMI and was part of the project before he died ( <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> ).

And I've noticed that there is a Paul MacCartney album on the release sheets. Dunno if that is a newie or another compilation.

EMI are b*st*ds concerning their back cat. Burn (Deep purple) was put on hold for years 'cos of their "wishing to promote our current artists". Like forget your heritage, why don't you!!!

I know, I saw yours and was very impressed for a "on the spur of the moment" response.

I tried to make it as close as a "Beatle" album as possible. I know JL does close side 1 and side 2 in many cases but taking Revolver as a moot point for side 1, I went for I Found Out. I also thought of the band members reaction if say "Working Class Hero" was put on the album. I would imagine (no pun intended), it wouldn't have appeared because of the use of certain Anglo Saxon expressions. Then again, I'm sure Lennon would've argued against "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" but after half an hour of "discussion" would've just walked away with "do what you damn well like" and then slagged it off in the press. That is of course, if you're looking at "Beatle" relationships cira 1969 / 1970.

Then I thought of Let It Be and thought it best to close the side to with a "roll a coaster" rocker and as PM is good at those it was a toss up between Hi, Hi, Hi or Juniors Farm. My preference came out.

I was sad enough to put together a mini disc in that running order last night (sorry CZ, cheating I know, as you didn't have the time) and it "scans" quite well. Cheating as well 'cos if you were going to do this properly, surely you'll take the tracks from the appropriate time i.e. tracks from 1st albums or singles.

Also noticed that the most tender of the songs come from John.

I'm going to try and remember my line-up tonight and do the same. Got a pretty crap memory, though. Not sure if I'll remember it all.

With the exception of two Paul tracks from 1974, you've gone for a very early 70's mix.

Have to disagree with your exclusion of Working Class Hero - if they allowed Revolution 9 onto an album, don't think John would have had too much trouble getting Working Class Hero on!

Actually, didn't I finish mine with Cambridge 1969? I do hope I did!
