The F A Vase

Brentwood Town, Enfield Town, Eton Manor, Romford, Southend Manor, Waltham Abbey and Stansted, by default, all through today, Burnham Ramblers to replay on Tuesday and Sawbridgeworth Town joint them in Rd 1 with Concord Rangers entering the fray in Rd 2 - that's something for us to cheer about tonight - have a good one !

The F A Vase results are very odd in places and the Burnham result was 1-1 at full time, with Steve Portway scoring on 104 mins and a rather dubious penalty equaliser later on in extra time to make it 2-2 ... nowhere near the phantom 0-7 ?

You should check some of the other places on the FA site, latest league tables dated aug 15 and other errors show that they must be too busy doing other things to run the site properly.

Andy - I've been logging on every day to the ETFC and associated websites. Haven't missed a thing.

Just finished a very hectic season over here. Knox City got promoted to the Victorian Premier League, but we found it just a bit beyond us, particularly with the Australian National League folding (pending a new Australian Premier League in 2005). We found ourselves playing teams with 3, 4 even 6 or 7 National League players and we couldn't compete with the budgets of some clubs ($200,000 for a 22 game season for some clubs). So it's back to the State League Division One next season for us. Check us out at www.knoxcitysoccerclub.com.au

Hopefully, ETFC can take out the league this year. Cup runs are great for the money but the league is the real thing. Good luck lads.

Well done ETFC.

If you check the Grassroots section of the FA website, there are two articles of interest - one about Nicky Ironton and his time at Enfield and the other about David Beckham sending Brimsdown Rovers a good luck message before their Vase match (it didn't help unfortunately)

What do you mean "unfortunately"?

Ceefax not only said 0-7 but also said Biggleswade TOWN instead of UNITED. Frightened the life out of our players when it came up on the clubhouse telly as we are playing at Biggleswade Town on Wednesday evening. We are breathing a bit easier now.

No disrespect Potters Bar Town FC, but I was born and raised in Carterhatch Road, just 200 yards from where Brimsdown Rovers (and now ETFC) play.
