It goes back to '92!

I'm told that the Yorkshire branch, then just young pups, were pelted with stones (really, it did happen) at the Stevenage away game.

Since then they've dedicated their lives to seeking retribution.

Hence on the day all you could hear with "Scum! Scum! Scum!" reverberating about the ground (the then new fencing adding to the effect), and "Where were you in 92!.

There were a few nasty scenes afterwards.

I was discussing the matter with Nobby just the other week.

Perhaps MDET could comment further.

It was actually after the league game - we must have taken quite a few and were in the little stand on the side. The stewards would not let anyone else into the stand and people were being pulled up over the side - I seem to remember there being a scuffle with a steward (Dave Costa was involved I think).

City won although the score escapes me - I think Brett scored and it was quite muddy.

As you walked round the back of the ground and under a sub-way to get to the retail park (bit like Wolves) all sorts were coming over the fence from the home end. Never liked S***enage from then on.

The friendly was a good day - 20-30 city fans in good voice, Laz has got the chants spot on (with a few more that are not repeatable). I think Tony Rivers threw one of their fans in the Cola stand down the terraces and then at the York Road end as we were going up to the bar a couple of their lot had a bit of a go about City being a small club, which got the "where were you in '92 response, they reacted and Nobby (possibly El Wood) and viz had a go back. Handbags broken up by Leigh Page

Still hate them

I remember their keeper was "sin-binned" during the friendly and their manager went on goal for the duration. He took horrible abuse too.

There was a report on their website later where he reported it was the worst he'd ever heard.

There have been no subsequent friendlies with Boro!

Funny you should say about that 'pack of wolves' thing, mde.

We ended up at Stevenage/Farnborough on New Years Day this year when our away match at Hitchin was called off. We sat in the Farnborough end and must have left a good 15 minutes before the end.

Anyway, this bunch of kids, aged 14 or so, followed us out of the ground and to the Retail Park a good mile away, just skulking a few yards behind, and trying to round up more of their chav mates on their mobiles.

Very sad.

In the Farnborough end, yeah!

They loved us actually - we were the only ones doing any singing!

We arrived about ten minutes into the game, and I think the Farnborough fans thought we were Stevenage, trying to 'run' their end, as a few looked a bit nervous, and a couple of their beefier fans stood up in anticipation.

Once they realised we were City, they loved us!

They'd heard of EFM too!!
